| Carney is in a different league than Tim Smith, He would be a sensation over here but he won't get a visa though so its a non starter. Catalans or Yawnion are his only real options

| Gutted about Goulding to be honest. We need to sign a centre if he goes.
We need a specialist centre.
Sarginsons best position is fullback
Thornley/Gelling are ok but not natural centres.

| I hope he goes to Catalans.
If he went there and hit form he'd be their best player and probably the best in SL.
Rugby wise going to Perpignan worked out for Greg Bird, I'm sure it would work out for Carney.

I'd have been using the Taylor situation to try and get Ben Crooks in a swap deal. A Crooks/Charnley partnership would be pretty good.

| If he ends up in Europe I suspect it will be cats just like Greg Bird did. Cant see him getting a work permit for the UK

| His form has been iffy this year but we're still losing our best centre IMO when Goulding goes.
Sarginson is a fullback/wing and Gelling a second rower IMO. That leaves us with Thornley who is inconsistent and a couple of back up options who are second rowers (Hughes/Tomkins).
I'd use the rest of this regular season to give all three of Charnley, Manfredi and Burgess a crack at centre to see if any of those could do a job.

| Can't say am too bothered about Gouldinghe had 2 seasons where he played very well but other than that he is fairly average and shows no signs of getting back to a top level of performance.
Taylor would be a loss, he is a quality young Prop who is only going to get better.
I get the feeling we are going to recruit very well for next year. I haven't heard anything but I just get the feeling after what was said after the Roosters match a plan was formed and blue print for our future will be followed.
I do think we need a centre and also a Prop if Taylor is confirmed as leaving as strongly rumoured.

I don't think Wane sees Gelling as a SR and now we have Joel back he'd have limited opportunities there anyway. I also think Sarginson is primarily a fullback, and the issue we have if we go in to next season with Thornley and Gelling as our first choice centres is they both favour the left centre position, and so does Sarginson when he plays there, so we'd be going in to 2015 without a right centre. Gelling's simple catch and pass that flew about 10 yards forward in to touch on Friday highlighted just how unnatural he is on the right.

All true. We also need an experienced centre, preferably on the right for the reasons you state but we also need someone just more experienced than any of 'em.

| No doubt you will have six nineteen year old centres waiting in the wings ready to take over

| vectra is right - Carney is infinitely more talented than Tim Smith. Even if I could sign him I'm not sure I would though, as the risk of having to ditch him modway through a season is fairly high. He's also missed quite a few games with injury this year.
