It's a real shame the England role is a closed shop and nothing more then a job for one of the boys at a time we have 3 really strong candidates for the role.'"

Personally I feel it is important to applaud any club who plays well against us - their individual moments of brilliance, their tries and their victories. It is a matter of principle that stems back to the real gentlemen who used to surround me at Central Park, and it is something that elevates us above and beyond the parochial attitudes that threaten the very existence of rugby league.

Not true. I remember a few years ago when Leeds blitzed us at home when they won the league. They played so well that I remember them receiving spontaneous applause.

agreed.
Good Friday at the DW last year and Turner produced a superb bit of centre play to send his winger in. I applauded it for the great bit of rugby that it was.

| I've always been massively against us clapping teams 'on' to the pitch because I think it gives them an edge. To get that sort of reception at the beginning can only give opposition teams a warm, cosy feeling and put them at ease when you should be trying to make them feel the complete opposite.
Clapping teams at the end of the game though? Absolutely. I gave the Cas lads a standing ovation because they deserved it. They were excellent, fully deserved the victory and they were respectful the whole game. They didn't whine and moan at every opportunity to the referee or try and twist every rule to breaking point to get an advantage. They simply outplayed us with good, skilful, entertaining and aggressive rugby league and they were good to watch. Once my reaction as a fan can have no impact on the result I'm all for showing the opposition the respect they deserve.
