Quote: Major Tom "Probably because it's wrong and such a simplistic way to look at things. Just because this is a fans forum doesn't mean you have to have a season ticket to know anything about Rugby League, the club or the players which was what the other poster was essentially saying.
What being a fans forum means is that when you post something other people might disagree with what you've said and if you care about that you should probably be ready to back it up with something relevant. I don't know if some people live inside a little bubble where they're never wrong and they take themselves very seriously but every now and then you get someone like KAII who blows a gasket because someone has the temerity to disagree with something they've said. On another thread he commented on Luke Walsh, a saints fan told him he was wrong. He didn't say 'oh sorry, i don't have a season ticket, i bow to you're superior knowledge of st helens' he called them an inbred. This has just been deflected, it's not about season tickets, it's about peoples ability to discuss.
On what you've said there are different ways to watch the games. They all get put on WiganTV for one thing. Not going to the games doesn't necessarily affect whether you know anything. Based on the evidence in this thread having a season ticket might actually be detrimental. To bring up having a season ticket this year when discussing the merits of Harrison Hansen who'd played for us for 10 years is especially irrelevant.
Is it any wonder that people who come on a forum to discuss rugby might not have season tickets. I think it's likely that a lot of fans who don't live in Wigan might come on here because there aren't people to discuss rugby with where they live and because they don't live locally, won't have season tickets. Not to say that's the only reason not to have a season ticket.
Having said ll that, i went to a many finals as i did home games last year so god, or Kaii, knows what's my opinion worth.'"
I understand your points. I suppose what gets to people like me who follow the team home and away is when people comment on a player's worth (for example Jordan James who got his own thread) when they haven't actually seen him play. Of course people are entitled to an opinion, it's a free country after all. It's just that if you don't watch the team play - then an opinion on whether a player is any good - is worthless. Or would you disagree?
Of course anyone can watch a lot of tv, and I think roughly half of our games go out live. It's not really the same. For any of you who have nothing to do on Saturday how about going to the game? It's dead cheap. Don't the lads deserve a little support?
