First year of scholarship is U15's. They don't get paid but are registered with that professional club by the RFL. They train usually twice a week, compete potentially with the U16's set up/league. They get physio and medical, nutrition advice, education, welfare, conditioning, 1:1 coaching etc etc. Whilst still training and playing for their amateur side. And doing their GCSE's!
Not sure about when/if they get to Academy.
Before that registration when clubs give the wink (which officially they aren't allowed to do), it's just a kind of verbal thing - nothing else.
