[quote="headhunter":lnxdgxk2]Union people are idiots. They almost universally accept that league is a better, faster game played by better athletes, yet for some reason they continue to disregard and belittle it. That game is tedious as hell from start to finish. If he'd ever played or even bothered to give more than a fleeting chance to league he would realise that the game is far more 'technical' than Union ever could be. Booting the ball into touch, scrummaging and forming rucks and mauls aren't areas that involve any skill, technique or mental capacity whatsoever. These are clumsy, outdated facets of the game that are also extremely uninteresting to watch and thus have to be defended in some way by people who are too prejudiced to see the truth.[/quote:lnxdgxk2]: |

| Does anyone know if this has been announced to be covered by either premier sports or Wigan TV yet? Hoping to get this early morning but was wondering if anything's been announced?

| Just watching the game again and got to Menfredi's break and subsequent try. As we now know, Manfredi is no slouch, but did you see the staggering speed of Hampshire catching him up in support? How fast is Rocky, bloody hell!

| that's why he's called rocky.
the attack looks a lot more fluid and that should only improve with the inclusion of o'loughlin and to a lesser extent green. burgess has cemented his place and the left side looks far more dangerous than last year.
i don't see clubb making the cut for the roosters game, i hold out hope he will improve but at the moment he looks lethargic and ineffectual. If he doesn't play we'll probably have hughes or bateman with farrell in the second row and that leaves the pack looking small compared to the roosters who i fear could be too strong given we struggled with the warriors when they just rolled up the middle with their props.

| Quote: Grimmy "I'd say he'll definitely feed the backs, he tends to turn up on the fringes in the right place at the right time to either dance through the line himself or send someone through. I haven't seen him pick up too many offloads from the forwards but then again we don't tend to offload much'" Thanks for the reply. We are hoping Tomkins will be used around Mateo who is a Try maker with his offloads.

He used to link very nicely with Gareth Hock who is also a serial offloader so I'd expect the same with any of the Warriors forwards who like to do the same.
I'm really looking forward to see how he goes. He is an exceptional talent, the best at our club since Ellery Hanley and his will to win is incredible. He drifted a little towards the end of his time here I thought and his form in the World Cup wasn't great but I think this move was on his mind. He will rise to the challenge IMO and show people down under that he's one of the very best players in the world.
If it doesn't though just send him back here

| Quote: Grimmy "I'd go
FB 26 Hampshire
RW 2 Charnley
RC 3 Goulding
LC 23 Sarginson
LW 32 Burgess
SO 19 Powell
SH 7 Smith
P 8 Taylor
H 9 McIlorum
P 16 Dudson
SR 10 Flower
SR 12 Farrell
LF 13 O'Loughlin
S 15 Tomkins
S 17 Crosby
S 22 Pettybourne
S 25 Bateman
Hampshire just impresses me every time he takes the field. I'm sure Bowen will be the better option once he's settled in but we don't have that luxury for the WCC, we need our very best team out for that one game. Sarginson and Burgess should go without saying IMO, I don't really see any big advantage Thornley has over either. Powell over Green is obviously a bold move but Powell's an out and out half IMO and his form is far better than Green's. Flower in the back row because neither Clubb nor Hughes fill me with much confidence, we need a reliable defender there, preferably with a bit of size to offset Farrell and Bateman being quite small, so Flower's my man. Reluctantly picked Tomkins on the bench because McIlorum looks out of sorts and he's the only other specialist hooker we have. Just to add I fully expect Wane to pick Bowen at FB, Green at SO, Clubb at SR and Powell benched.'"
Fair shout Grimmy, although I'd sooner see Pettybourne in the SR, he's quicker and more mobile than Flower. Gurrera and SBW are both fast SRs, I'd worry they'd leave Flower for dead outwide.
