| The England U16 team was abbounced today and Wigan are represented by Craig Mullen and Lewis Heckford. It got me looking at the scholarship at Wigan and to my surprise there is quite a few lads from Yorkshire including Heckford. This for me is why a salary introducing new rules for home grown players is flawed as teams with money can go and cherry pick all the best young lads from across the country and class them as there own. I know Wigan are not the only club who does it but should'nt these lads be playing for there local team ? Cumbrians have always been snatched up but that cant be helped as they have no SL club.

| Hull getting there under Pearson, with 7 players selected in the two squads, Pearson is trying emulate the way Wigan and in particular your youth is run.
No suprise the only two SL teams with no players in either squad are Salford and Rovers, both teams think too short term.
Hopefully we won't lose anymore Ryan Hampshires in the future.

Great news for the good of the sport. We can't (and shouldn't) be the ones doing it on our own.

| The England set up is a joke. Plenty of those lads are extremely lucky to be in the squad. For example Tom Calland and Matty Fleming at Saints arnt even the best players at our club in those positions never mind elsewhere in the league.

| Quote: Paul Youane "Not sure you're correctly informed on this one. Hampshire signed for Wigan when turning professional after playing service area for Hull. Hull would not receive a penny in such circumstances so there is no snatching-off of hands to be done. Plenty of clubs will have approached Hampshire to sign for them, Wigan will have paid him the going rate to sign.
With central funding for service areas stopping clubs are now free to recruit players from anywhere in the country not just their own "service area". There are a couple of clubs not happy about this.'"
Hampshire was at Hull but was a product of the Wakefield Service area, Hull took 3 lads from Wakefield Scholarship at the time, Hampshire, Luke Briscoe (now at Leeds) and one other who has since drifted from the sport.
Do not know if it's possible to play for Hull service area when you live in Wakefield. I think what actually happened was Rocky didn't actually sign anything with Hull. Briscoe went to Leeds with some contract screw up as well so it would not surprise me.

From what i saw recently on the Saints youth tour to Australia, the above statement is true.
