| Steve Mascord wrote in the SMH -We were assured mid-year that the World Club Challenge would be in Australia in February and that the previous hodge-podge organisation of the game was a thing of the post. But that announcement will be sorely tested now that Wigan and Sydney Roosters will be involved. Leeds pushed for the game to be played on these shores while big-city clubs such as Brisbane and Melbourne were the NRL teams seen as being capable of turning a profit. South Sydney were going to take the game to Perth. And the exchange rate has dropped since the decision was made. Perhaps this could be the year we get the mythical neutral venue in the Middle East or Asia. But DW Stadium, Wigan, must be firming.[/i
Would be an experience if it is played in Oz though.

| I'm not sure if playing a friendly would be a good idea. This wouldn't be a run out like Melbourne against London, it would be a tough game and could result in a potentially embarrassing result a week before the main event which would only serve to harm promotional efforts over there.

| Given we'll have already started the season over here (and played various warm-up games) there'll be no need for any warm-up games over in Aus.

| It seems to have gone a bit quiet during the last few weeks regarding the WCC, so I assumed that the governing bodies concerned would be getting their heads together during the WC.
I was having a wander on the NZ Warriors site tonight and came up with the following post from the NZ site.
"Just heard on the radio there could be a NZ Warriors vs Wigan Warriors warm up match before Wigan play the Roosters!"
Maybe things are moving.

Mentioned in the SMH also. www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/leag ... z2kKYfbGM8
"Still on scheduling, there seems to be an increasing possibility Wigan will play their Warriors namesakes in Auckland the week before the World Club Challenge against Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium on February 22"
Though the weekend of the 15th is the Aukland 9s, plus our SL season will have started, so I don't see how a warm-up game will be possible?
