| Quote MadDogg="MadDogg"Tuson for Powell and Goulding for Thornley. Probably Dudson to start alongside Mossop.
Wonder if O'Loughlin will try and throw his hat in the ring?'"
If he does the doc will pick it up and throw it back out!

| Quote stillinthepast="stillinthepast"The Centre positions are a worry, Goulding has hardly played any Rugby in the last couple of months, he has missed matches for various reasons or been taken off injured (the last two matches taken off with concussion).
That's why I think we should start with Thornley and Goulding in the Centres with Gelling on the bench, that way we would not be in the position of having to move a forward to centre if Goulding has to go off again.
Any doubts about Gouldings fitness, leave him out.'"
I'm pretty sure Goulding's injuries were concussions, he would be pretty damn unlucky to get concussed for a third time. Certainly wouldn't use up a bench spot on the off chance. Agree re him not playing if he's not 100% over it of course

Hughes/A Powell (still think he might be worth using in 10-15 min bursts off the bench, starting him was ridiculous IMO, but he could turn out to be a useful impact prop running at tired defences)

Hughes and Andy Powell shoudlne be anywhere near that team if were going of recent performances, or season long for that matter it's too much of a risk.

| I said that if we got Leeds or Wire in the SF that Lockers would play and I still wouldn't be surprised if he does.

A Powell/Hughes - Hughes turns too much ball over for me and I do have doubts over Powell's fitness for this one. Thornley to start and Gelling as sub perhaps?

TBH I was struggling with the last bench spot. I think 16 of the 17 is pretty nailed on, well 15 as there is still debate whether Thornley or Gelling play in the centres. I don't think we need a bench hooker or half on the bench so it would be an extra forward. Burke could be an option but he hasn't played for a long time. A young prop like Greenwood could be used also but he is still very inexperienced. Hughes had a decent game against Hudds but on the whole this year he hasn't played well. Andy Powell is still way off the pace, though as I said above I think could prove useful in short bursts, the home game against Hull after the cup final as an example. Or Gelling could be used off the bench as a SR/cover for outside backs.

Assuming lockers doesnt play then as above but with the idea you mooted below.
i would play thornley so for me its same as hudds but tuson in for hughes and gelling to bench for powell to provide cover in 2 areas (centre and back row).
