Green's confidence seemed to take a massive knock when Paterson took him off the ball in the cup match at HKR. I think he's refound his confidence and form over the last 2 weeks. Great game tonight.

But he has to get rid of the obligatory forward pass at the critical point of the first half. He does it every week, like a broken record, luckiliy he got away with it tonight but its tedious now. Mickey cut it out. Other than that, he was outstanding in defence, and well done to all the players. Another plus point, Gelling looks more comfortable playing on the right, its like he's a natural.

If you think of the amount of passes MM puts on, it's obvious a % are going to go awry, he isn't perfect.

Gelling was great. My only worry is Thornley, he looked lost tonight.

Gelling did but Thornley had one of his worst halfs of the season in the first 40 mins.

He frustrates the life out of me. I posted after the CC final that I was chuffed to but for him to play such a big part because he looks like he's got massive self doubts. I thought it would kick him on but he was so nervous tonight.

Goulding and Gelling at 3 and 4 next week IMO.

I feel for Thornley.

He looks to be a good lad with some talent but he always looks scared to death. When one mistake comes you can be sure another will follow.

I was very critical of Green, as were many others recently, but it seems there wasn't necessarily a loss of form on his part as much as a failure of the entire team to put together a performance that allowed Green the time and space to do what he does best. It can't have been easy for him to try to regain form when the team weren't in any sort of form themselves.

Just goes to show how better we are when Micky Mac does a full shift. My M O M closely followed by Matty Smith. Well done all round lets hope we go all the way.

Perhaps it shows how wise it was to rest MM during the season, and give game time to a young hooker as well.
