Well done Matty on the MOM. Great display on a bad day and yes he is a Saint Helen's lad ? So what he chose to play for Wigan. How many times has a Wigan lad lifted awards for Saints ? Quite a few times I believe.

If Hull had niled us and won you would be on here saying how awesome Hull were. Your nothing more than a sad little troll who is so gutted we won yesterday. The game was bad because the conditions were awful. Defensively we put on a masterclass yesterday of how to run a game in crappy weather.

I wouldnt quit my day job to take up a career in mind reading just yet. I've never claimed I [iwanted[/i anything but a Hull win (as you'd expect) but I'm certainly not gutted about the result, why would I be ? Obviously when Saints win it eats you up , Wigan winning doesn't do that to me unless it's you who's beat us. I sat and watched the game expecting a cracker which is why I am gutted it was dull , If I'd been off in the pub I wouldn't even have cared about that.

I am happy enough to say the best team on the day won and completely deserved it. Even better that a Saints lad picked up MoM and on reflection it was deserved if nothing else for his solid all round display and excellent kicking game.

Tbh i am more gutted when Wire win anything than Saints. But tbh that might be its been that long since Saints won a final i might have forgotten who bad it is.

I know this seems off topic for this thread but Matty Smith won the Lance Todd with 13 votes compared to 3 for Faz and Mossop, 2 for Locky and Shaul and 1 for a few others.

I am surprised it was that clear cut. I would have thought given the nature of the game some of the forwards didnt get more votes.

Smith's kicking game was almost as perfect as it gets apart from one I can remember, and certainly perfect for the conditions. Was always going to be a forwards battle given how wet it was but none really stood out for me in the way Smith's kicking game did.

He kicked us round the pitch yesterday, turning Hull around time and time again.

You want a halfback to control the game and in those conditions his kicking was almost faultless. If Leeds were playing there yesterday, Sinfiwld would have done exactly the same.

I thought Hansen was outstanding , just the type of player needed in a contest like that game was. He was up against Ellis too who is still a top class forward.

Hansen was my m.o.m. Players like that are so undervalued by the media , but I'll bet not by the coaches.

O'Loughlin, McIlorum & Taylor were my top 3 personally. If there'd been more Ex-Players in the Media, I bet that the choice would have been different.
