| To put it into context Ryan has been playing in a very weak under 19's competition which Wigan have been dominating and has played full back for the last two months in that competition, prior to this all of his rugby came from the halves.
To state that the lad has made an impact in an unfamiliar position is an understatement, his attacking play is superb a great offload for Charnley's try and a superb last ditch tackle to deny Greenwood a certain try (why didn't the ref let the play run to see whether wigan scored and then gone to the screen to check the whole play?)
Yes, he has got his areas of improvement, high ball being one of them and occasional positioning in the attacking line but I've seen so much improvement in him since the Bradford game- his confidence is building nicely and he will turn in to a fine player and a very good replacement for Sam in the short term.
He also has Radlinski, Hampson and Tomkins to get as much experience and advice from.
Out of all the full backs we have introduced over the last year or so for me Hampshire is the one with the most rugby ability. If we manage his progression well, drip feeding him into the 1st team off the bench and starting occasionally by the time the lad's 20, he will be ready and dare I say it a real superstar for our club.

| Quote jonh="jonh"2 try saving tackles, the second of which was top class, created field position for 1 try, created a try with sublime skills.
Average at best though Brett.'"
Don't talk stats to people who just want to moan about everything, that's just not right!

| Class act in the making but i must agree he's too young to replace sam, and let's not give Lenagan our blessing to do a Dave Whelan and replace Sam on the cheap, if we was to replace Sam with Minichielo this would do Hampshire a world of good to learn from a past master.

| Quote Geoff="Geoff"The one where Saints were penalised for interference?
Had a great game, I thought...and surprised no-one's mentioned that try saving tackle where he dislodged the ball, as well as that double tackle on the LMS break and the following PTB.'" It was a response to someone who said "he looks very solid under the high ball". We were lucky to get the penalty IMO. I think he is a great prospect and the tackle back when he saved a try was superb

| some on here will have a go just because he isnt from Wigan. He is by far the best prospect ive seen since Sam broke into the side. I would like to see him in the halves long term but the trend does seem to be to put flair players at FB and play of structured halves. Time will tell.

| He played very well, the try saving tackle on Greenwood (why didn't the ref play advantage as Charnley was clear), his tackle on Scarsbrook and his superb pass for Charnleys second try.
I was hoping he could have caught one of those kicks on the full, took the tap on the twenty and chipped over the top, It's something he's done quite a few times at academy levels.

| Towards the end, i was just hoping hed get his hands on the ball more because he was the only one in the side with an idea/imagination/spark. I think if he has an off seasn playing at fullback, wed have a frightening prospect. I do agree, he looks like hed be more comfortable in the halves at the moment.

| Maybe he'll start his first team career at FB then go to 6 when he has a few seasons behind him.
Hardly an unknown is that.
