When I first saw the bit about a disciplined club in the statement about Longs departure and it alluding to a reason why he has gone. Should have been a surprise but it is far from that in his case.

My only concern is whoever thought this was a good idea is still at the club. Strangest bit of recruitment since the Millward era.

Bad appointment? Again, you have no idea why he has left the club and what the reasons are. For all you know, it could be something personal, or something else. In fact, it could be literally anything. Dont stick the boot into the bloke until you know the facts, which you dont.

The press release says it all really. They could have said "personal reasons", or "a better job elsewhere", or pretty much anything non-committal, but they chose to highlight the discipline/culture clash and nothing else.
Lots of people at the time thought it was a strange appointment for precisely that reason, so it's not hindsight.

I actually this was a good piece of management.
they saw that a good technical coach was available, and gave him the opportunity.
when it was shown that it wasnt working (for whatever reason), they quickly dissolved the partnership.

do we want the management to be so straight laced and judgmental that we dont give people the chance ? surely it is better to allow people to grasp a chance, rather than make your minds up about them before hand ?
the key is not being afraid to let go, and not t let things continue if they are not working.

I cant comment because i dont know why hes gone. It may well be nothing to do with how good a job he was doing. Il wait for the facts personally.
