For the match highlight we have to follow rights restrictions. We would like to show the games as soon as we can, we will try and get all highlights on the site as soon as possible.
We did are first live stream last night, we are looking to improve this as the season goes on, and look forward to doing a lot more.

The Wigan club restricting rights of the TV channel owned by the Wigan club?
As I said, a very strange business model.

My guess is that a tv deal was signed that gives Sky/BBC priority over highlights (possibly a full week on the iplayer for the BBC). Then possibly the Super League website, and really ventures like this wern't forseen and thus not taken into account within the deal. I remember for example when Liverpool FC TV launched they couldn't show Liverpool's FA Cup Matches, as they launched mid FA Cup tv contract, for a few seasons, but once the new contract came around they new do show those matches delayed. I'm totally second guessing but I'm sure it's restrictions out of the clubs hands. I mean the club these days clearly is not the shoddy token gesture operation that we saw when Whelan was owner. If they could have the full match up by 10pm on a Friday Night, I'm sure they would! |
