10172_1376829585.jpg Dan Sarginson: "This is a fantastic opportunity for me to join the biggest name in the competition" 18/10/2013
Tony Clubb: "This is a new exciting chapter of my life signing for Wigan and I couldn't be happier" 18/10/2013
Romain Navarrete: “I’m very happy to have signed for Wigan Warriors. As soon I knew that Wigan were interested, they were the only team that I wanted to sign for. To me, Wigan is the biggest Club in Rugby League and it will be an honour to pull on the famous Cherry-and-White jersey next year. I look forward to working with Shaun Wane and the players at Wigan.”:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10172.jpg |

| He will do more good than bad, of that there is no doubt. I remember one occasion he was letting a ball go over the dead ball line, but it bounced short and the oppo (Hull?) scored a try. In the CC Final last year he allowed a 40-20, and of course yesterday he did the same. He is good enough to learn from that, and will make up for it. But the OP is right. Had it been Gelling there would be uproar.

I will look to the moment, and miraculously, the future will take care of itself.
Radio 5 Live, Sat, April 14th, 2007,...Dave Whelan, "In Wigan, rugby will always be king"
'I was certain, positive, convinced, and yet..........unsure'
'It's only rock 'n' roll, but I like it'

| Quote: Geoff "True, but there again, even after his error, on a normal day we should still have been able to defend from the resulting scrum.'"
Correct, after an error like that the intensity in the defensive set needs lifting, we didn't, they capitalised on ineffective tackling, it was 'one of those days', we haven't had too many over the last couple of years, lets move on.

| I think Tomkins missed the 40-20 because his head was still all over the place after making the mistake for the first try. The third try where he was too busy complaining to the ref was the most unforgivable of the lot imo and was unprofessional. Tomkins is an outstanding player but he still has a lot of work to do with his attitude.

| Quote: fatbaztod100 "I think you are being really kind to Brian Mc and Leeds here Bear. IF Sam had caught the bomb or didn't let the 40/20 go it would have been a different game. However they did and we were left chasing the game this caused us not to play our natural game and Leeds made good of that. I said on another thread that the way we played Leeds should have put 50 points on us however with a bit more luck in attack (the Hughes knock on with about 10 minutes left a prime example) we could have won this match.'"
Our line defence was disgusting with three players unable to hold Ryan Bailey from scoring an easy try. Our sliding defence was shocking as well with Ben Jones-Bishop's try so easy it was painful to watch.
Leeds had a absolutely superb gameplan and made far more yards up the middle then we did but more importantly found the ground quickly and got the quick play the balls for Rob Burrow to destroy us up the middle. Add to that a far superior kicking game and Wigan were very lucky they didn't get pasted by 60.
Luckily we still have decent strike players and Leeds are also pretty poor in defence (which is why they will lose to Warrington in the final IMO). Our mistakes give them the early advantage but they were head and shoulders the better team than us, even without the Sam Tomkins fiasco.

| Interesting comment from Martin Sadler in League Express, a neutral, who complained about the poor line markings at Hudds saying that this contributed to Sam's misjudgement of the 40-20.
I was sat near the incident and certainly he had time to judge the situation.

| Worst goal line defence I've seen from us since 2006. Never once had the confidence that we'd hold them out (which usually I do)
