| If you put a second rower on the wing if hes not getting the most metres gained then there is something wrong.
However I am not knocking the lad, he is very raw, there is potential in him lets just hope he fulfills it.

Not really, no-one is saying get rid of him, just that he's got bags of potential but isn't ready yet.

| I don't think you can compare the Pat Richard's first season in super league with Gellings, one had just won the NRL and played poorly in comparison for us the other is a promising youngster who has never played first grade rugby league before this season. I hope Gelling develops to be a world beater but the expectations i have for him this year are a lot lower than the expectations we all had for Richards in his first season.

My comment was aimed at Rogues' typically mischievous style. As far as Gelling goes, as an emergency winger he is solid in defense and makes hard yards too. However his errors in attack are frustrating but he's raw and has stepped into a mighty pair of boots. Is it allowed on here to be happy with parts of his game and disappointed with others? It seems some posters want a simple "for or against" stance with everything instead of realising that acknowledging a player's defects isn't always a total condemnation.

A good post. As usual Mr Jimmy.
Gelling is doing a job that he's not 'trained' to do. Just like Joel last season. He'll make errors that aren't typical of a seasoned winger but he'll also bring other things to that position like his returning the ball in. He does that harder than any current SL winger and he takes a lot out if the defences doing that. He does need to get out of the habit of putting butter on his fingers before games though.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |
