| Having watched a lot of Daniel Holdsworth this year, those who think he is good enough are well off the money.
Don't get me wrong, when he's firing he is awesome. As we all saw on Wednesday night, he can be absolutely devastating.
However, it is not often enough. Mentally he struggles with the game and that prompts a tremendous amount of inconsistency.
I don't know whether it is his attitude, disillusionment or what, but we need someone a lot more capable than him at Wigan. I also believe we have signed such an individual.

Are you referring to the signing of Smith or Finch's replacement, and if so who ??? Numerous people linked from Gaskell to Sowood to Chase but all seem to have died a death ??

| for me we need to be signing a world class half to partner matty. Matty will do well behind our pack and as an organiser I think he will be a good replacement for finchy (must give him some time though as he is still young) and ultimately we can forgive his St Helens upbringing.
Heard a rumour flying around that Hornby is on our radar, he is too old but I think that is the caliber of player we should be looking for. Another trent barrett please....
or we look the other way and go british and get Luke Gale from Bradford on the cheap??

I think with the 2nd row talent we're currently producing Tuson is going to find himself looking for another job.
Good, solid SL player, but not big enough in comparison to some of the lads we're producing.

I'm sorry but we've seen this year how important it is to have strength in depth throughout the squad. Who would have envisaged Rhodri Lloyd getting ANY game time this season, for example. Tuson has done enough to warrant at least another 2 year deal IMO and I think it is very unlikely he'll be leaving any time soon.

I love having strength in depth, but we have a salary cap to adhere to.

Which is exactly the reason a team needs players like Chris Tuson.

You can't have a team full of stars all on like £80k+ a year. You need the solid players like Chris who will be on an average or possibly below average wage of less than £60k.

We've got 2nd rowers by the dozen though. Tuson is decent but never going to be anything more than a backup, we have enough young 2nd rowers coming through to not need to have him around the squad. The likes of Hughes and Lloyd can provide enough minutes to take his place in the squad.

I like Tuson. He's a solid grafter but I agree with this post. I think despite less experience, Hughes in particular offers more to the squad than Tuson already. It's a luxury to have so many decent squad players. Just don't forget that Tuson leathered the coward McGennis at magic weekend so that'll do for me!
