The other night,there was a photo of Colin Clarke receiving an award in 1974( i think it was).There was another player in the photo,anyone know who it was. The "experts"at work have been brandishing names about,but nobody is exactly sure who it is.

I've just found it. The player was John Gray who signed from Coventry Rugby Union. He was a goal kicking hooker and only stayed at Wigan for a couple of seasons before going to play RL in Australia. He was a very good player.

Remember him well. Other players, including Bill Ashurst, went around the same time.

History seems to be repeating itself. Good players emerge and it only seems to be a matter of time before the Aussies want them (assuming Union doesn't step in first - a modern twist on the phenomenon).

Frustrated as hell when I ponder this.
