| GARETH Ellis has agreed to join Hull FC on a three-year deal when he returns to Super League next season.
The 30-year-old second row left Leeds in 2008 and has been Wests Tigers player of the year in all his seasons in the NRL.
Having worked with FC coach Peter Gentle in their time at Wests, Ellis says the move to the Black and Whites is a logical one.
“I believe the club can be anything it wants to be,” said Ellis.
“I was lucky to have a few clubs interested, but I’ve been listening to Hull and to the ambition they have got and the prospects they’re trying to put in place for the future and the bottom line for me was that it was a great time to be involved with Hull.”

| Good for them. Pleased about this - we need our big clubs to be as competitive as possible.
Hull and Bradford especially are two sleeping giants who hopefully will be back in the mix soon, Hull quicker than Bradford I would imagine.

| He's obviously gone to the highest bidder and who can blame him.
I thought he'd go to Leeds as did plenty of their fans but Leeds have always been pretty sensible when it comes to salaries so no real surprises.
One thing this signing does show is if you want the best available players on the Market moves need to be made now and not in November.

| Hull are making a deal of the fact they didn't offer the most.

| Surprised with this at Hull, with the likes of Tickle, Manu, Westerman and co already there in the back row. Guess they will be cutting a few players to get him under the cap. Plus he'll be 31.

Can you imagine what's going through Danny Tickle's head now: "I scored four tries last week and nine goals, and now I'm looking at a place on the bench."

| Great signing for Hull.
Ellis is a world class player and still has 3 or 4 years of top quality play at SL level.
If there were no issue with a salary cap I am sure every club would be in for him, I often think he is vastly underestimate by some fans who hold the likes of Burgess, Tomkins, Graham and Roby on a par with the top Aussies, yet Ellis sometimes seems to be the forgotten man, maybe because he has been away for so long.
If you have the funds available Ellis is a player clubs should be looking to accommodate even if you have a few established back row forwards already on the books.

All that means is they didn't offer as much as Wire and Ellis wouldn't consider them due to location. You can guarantee Hull offered more than Leeds.
