We bought the Loyal 18 membership as we live 100 miles from Wigan and due to work commitments cannot always attend every home game, so a season ticket is not practicable. With the half price magic weekend tickets it saves you the price of the Loyal 18 membership so it's a bit of a no-brainer in that respect. We sold the spare handbook and season review DVD on Ebay and with the £2 per ticket savings on match tickets we feel as if we have a good deal. The only problem with the system is that you have to ring the ticket office to take advantage of the saving - you can't buy tickets online and get the £2 discount. Oh, and we haven't received our actual membership cards yet and we were promised them before the first game of the season!

Quote: 21-12 "My point is, that we have 10k Season ticket holders, but 3k tickets, meaning that 7,000 wont get tickets i appreciate that some people cant make it or dont want to go but im willing to bet that more than 3k Wiganers want to go to Saints away. So, in my opinion, that 10,000 should be filtered down so that the 3k people that DO get tickets are the people that went to the most away games last season, using a loyalty system. I cant really see a reason that that particular system isn't fair, its the fairest way to do it.

My statement is wrong, IN YOUR OPINION.'"

Paul

1st thing I will ask is "Why have those 7k who won't get tickets not bought any of the tickets that have been and currently are on sale?"
Could that be that they don't want to go and haven't tried? Stop quoting 10k ST holder because it doesn't matter, for Every game we've got there will always be more ST holders at Wigan than what the away club gives us.
How would any Loyalty system change that?

Your mistaking the issue here in that more than 3k "May" want to go and we do have 10k ST holders

BUT

Those 10k ST holders have all had a chance to buy tickets and Less than 3k actually bought them Without a Loyalty system in place!!! How would the loyalty system have helped with these particular tickets?
PLUS at what point in your Loyalty scheme does it make the Away team give us more tickets if they don't want to?

Saints have give us 3k, every ST holder has had the chance to buy one and any non-ST holder has had the chance to get one from Saints.
Whether they should have been allowed to put them on general sale at Saints before giving Wigan ST holders a chance to buy them is another issue.

Having any Loyalty system in place will not change the FACT that Saints will give us what they want to and in this instance Demand "may" outeigh supply but not to the extent that it has affected anyone that would benefit from the loyalty system you would put in place.
Not to mention you've ignored leyther matt's insight onto the situation i.e it would be a logistical problem for the club to run which in turn could have major detrimental knock on effect for future attendance to games and cost to the club.

if you feel so strongly about the situation I would suggest that you write a letter with your suggestion and send it to the club?
I for one would "Love" to see any response you get to that.

PS

You said you could name me 1 occasion were supply of tickets for ST holders was not enough and you named this game.
Well your wrong, there are still Tickets left, that's not an opinion That's Fact.
Even if they do sell out in next couple of days any ST holder will have had over a week to get one and I would suggest they've had more than enough time to get one and could still get one from Saints if they wanted.

Would you be having this argument if Saints had a decent sized stadium? The root cause of this is a ground which is too small, the rest is just detail; attempting to manage difficulties caused by the inadequate capacity of Trailer Park Stadium....

The game is 5 weeks away, people are still having to fork out for Widnes and a lot probably havn't thought about Saints yet.

Another example is Cup finals, if your happy that people who have missed 70% or more of games in the season are just as entitled to you, that have probably missed none to a ticket in the FIRST sale, this means probably getting better seats, then thats fine, but I know a lot that aren't.

I dont feel "strongly" about it, I just think that its the fairest way to sell tickets for games with smaller allocations, hence the reason why every premier league football club in the country use the said system.

And how would a Loyalty scheme change this? The ST Holders that haven't bought because it's 5 weeks away would still not have bought them for the very same reasons they haven't got 1 yet? Unless your saying we should only sell them 1 week before the game so that they can "Think" about it?

???
I'm saying that in 95%+ of instances it isn't a problem (Really should be 100%) as as a ST holder I have yet to get to a stage where I or anyone else has missed out on an away ticket if I or anyone else wanted one so what's the problem?
As someone has previously said every ST holder is gauranteed a ticket for any major finals. With regards to Non ST Holders then I may agree with that there potentially could be day trippers who get one before someone who has attended every game Home & Away that season.
I would only say that as a Single lad yourself you've failed to grasp how it would affect the many, many Families who want to sit together yet would now under your system potentially have to queue 3/4/5 times due to the different number of loyalty points each family/friend member had! Add to that how much extra work it would take the club etc (Leyther Matts points earlier) and I would have a guess the benefits are far outweighed by the negatives.

I dont feel "strongly" about it, I just think that its the fairest way to sell tickets for games with smaller allocations, hence the reason why every premier league football club in the country use the said system.

And I'm pretty sure that's probably not how 90% of League 1 League 2 clubs sell their away tickets because to be frank there isn't the Constant demand to use those systems due to the much smaller fan base. I'm pretty sure that SL crowds in general are more akin to that level of support for away games than it is for PL Football

Loyalty system regarding away tickets would never work. On the basis of what's been said, the allocation of away tickets are going to go to the same fans every time as its based on the number of games attended.

I managed to get a ticket for the Saints game no problem and I'm not a season ticket holder!

Anyway this thread is based on the Loyal 18 Membership and for me it has been great and I have already returned what I have spent on it through the discounts and offers available. Its a great idea!
