Quote: bewareshadows "The 2,300 allocation may basically be down to that being the number left. Some say and it's only rumour that 1000 tickets for the east stand where already sold via the website. those sales have to be honoured.
Whose to say, who bought them, Wiganers or Saints or Neutrals (as we do get them on good friday)
As for those who want a similar allocation as Saints get at the pie dome, well that's just not feasable.
If wigan had 14k season tickets, and a floating fan section of between 5-6k ontop of that, then that would lead to Wigan having to restrict Saints too. The Pie dome has got pretty close to a sell out, but never sold out due to it's larger capacity. In the end those who where quickest off the mark have their tickets in the bag and have no worries.
If Saints can get our capacity up from the current 17,200, then maybe more will become available later, as it does say an initial allocation. But put simply the reason for the restriction on numbers is the same as always demand exceeds supply.
There are only a limited way to stop this, you increase prices (reducing demand) or you have sort of queing system and those at the back of the queue get last pick or no pick at all. The queuing system here was technology and information, those with it got a ticket those without it are going to have to wait.
I'm not going either way this year. But hopefully the lack of supply will encourage even more season ticket holders for next year at Saints.'"
This is the only problem with us having such a large stadium. People know for a fact they can walk up for every single game other than a Good Friday derby match.
Thankfully the south stand has sold out for the first two games of the season. With just 400 left for the Catalans game I can see the same happening again. This will hopefully increase the demand and we will see more tickets bought before the matchday and potentially more season ticket holders next season.
I hope the capacity for good friday at saints is at the limit, it would be a shame for so many people to miss out on such a huge game.
Personally, I would love for us to get to a point where we can only give the away fans a couple of blocks in the North stand on derby day. I suppose it is great for saints that they have enough demand to fill most of the stadium by themselves. It is a good problem for Rugby League to have.
I dream of seeing ticket touts outside every rugby league venue I go to.
