The play-offs for the teams finishing first and second have changed considerably since 2006. It's much more difficult now for them, wrongly in my opinion.

We played Wire, Saints and Leeds in knockout footy well before the playoffs. It must take it out of the players.

I 100% agree with this

| When Hanley was in charge at saints for his too brief spell at management he refused to talk about anything other than the next game, which appears to be totally the opposite approach to wane. Am not saying wane is wrong, only history will prove that. But rugby players are sinple souls, and it seems to me that Hanley was right to focus their minds on the immediate issue, which is the next game. Hanley took it a stage further with every player being given a file that he had produced about their game, with areas for them to work on. I personally think Hanley was a real loss to the game, he was the best player that I have ever seen, and I reckon he could have gone on to be a great coach. Pity no board was brave enough to put up with his slightly erratic personality.

| If you listen to interviews with Wigan players after the GF victory in 2012, you will see a trend appearing of them saying it was their single aim.
The club had that goal & did everything possible to achieve such.
It clearly wasn't a 'game by game' scenario. Boy did it work!
Not sayIng that it's gonna be possible to do so with 3 trophies but 2010 is proof we can have a long-term goal and it be fully achieved.
I'm behind Wane and love the idea that he want to win everything; every tackle, every contest, every game, every round, every week, every trophy.
That should be the Wigan Way

Wane did that when he was in charge of the U18's and U20's. When the now gym was the clubhouse at Orrell you would see all the young players pre-match with their notes (filofax) in discussions with Wane.

| Why are we confusing Shaun Wane's actual training policy with a quick quote given to a newspaper?
I very much doubt that any coach of a top SL side would say anything other than he wants to win everything if asked what his hopes for the season are. He's hardly going to respond: "We'll take it on a game-by-game basis, and see."
I doubt we can draw any conclusions about Waney's training methods from that.
Plus, Hanley didn't invent the 'personal notes for players' approach. That was going on at Wigan under Graham Lowe and John Monie.

| Id be more disapointed if Wane come out and said 'I only want to win 1 thing'
Shouldnt we want our coach to be saying he wants to win everything were involved in? Or are we becoming a Warrington style club and being happy with a single cup a season now?
The Wigan way tells me we aim to win any competition we are involved with.
