Just to clear a few things up!

Who Are The Brigantes?[/u
The Brigantes are Wigan RL’s ultras group. We are first and foremost Wigan RL fans. Made up of fans of different ages we are all dedicated followers of WRL. The group was formed in the off season of 2009 by two likeminded fans, with their original aim being to make the soulless DW stadium feel more like home. The original plan was to adorn the South Stand with flags. This was successful and many flags have been produced, leaving us with more flags than space to display them. The group has now moved onto having an active presence at matches. This began with the introduction of new songs and flags at away games, which resulted in a noticeable improvement in the atmosphere. Towards the end of the 2011 season, as numbers grew, it was decided that it was time for the group to have a presence at home games. The first home match attended was the playoff game against Saint Helens. Although the team lost, a good display was put on and our first airing of “Cherry and White” received a very positive reception from the home support. The home debut was a success and resulted in us deciding that we would now make S2 our area of the stadium. The group will now be found at S2 during all home games.

Our Aim[/u
Our aim is to improve the atmosphere at all Wigan games, both home and away. We hope to achieve this through a combination of visual displays and constant and loud singing and chanting. We encourage anybody interested in getting behind the team in a similar manner to come and join us, there is no membership, everyone who is willing to put in a little effort is one of us! We in no way think we are better than any other fans (as has been claimed in the past), everyone chooses their own way to support the club and team. We can only grow and improve our displays through more like minded people joining us and helping out.

Concerns[/u
We have heard people voice their concern that as an ultras group we will be encouraging violence. This could not be further from the truth. We are completely against violence and have a no tolerance policy. It has in fact been noted that since we have established ourselves at away matches there seems to have been a decline in problems with Wigan fans.
