Astonishingly inept trolling.
You do realise that "Yorkshire" didn't exist until much later in history, don't you? I'm proud to be a Lancastrian, but even I wouldn't claim the County Palatine existed prior to the coming into existence of England....
The "Celts" weren't actually a race by the way; there's very little evidence in the genetic history of Britain of invasion and settlement in large numbers prior to Anglo-Saxon times. When people speak of Celts they are actually referring to a culture, which certainly was successful and at its height was shared by people in large parts of Western Europe. For example, the majority of the genetic make up of the Irish is derived from people that settled in Ireland thousands of years ago, long before the Celts appeared.

Don't let facts get in the way of cr*p trolling! These Brigantes were based in Keighley, don't you know? Stupid of us in Wigan to name our supporters group after them!
The organised fans did bring more than flags and a drum to the game; what turned into a disaster on the field ended up in a rewarding experience at the HJ. Well done to all!!!

I take your point, but the people in Wigan at the time (and I think there is evidence of pre-Roman settlement of Wigan) would have considered themselves Brigantes. Just because you live in Wigan today doesn't mean you're less English than a Cockney.
I think it's an unusal choice but not wrong and trolls saying the Brigantes have named themselves after a tribe from a county, when that county (and England itself) didn't exist at the time are barking up the wrong tree!
