54062_1294991734.gif RLFans finest:
[quote="Saint77777":3t42372l]Maguire was a black mark on RL in this country. Whilst coaches like Daniel Anderson and Brian McLennan won championships on the back of exciting Rugby league, Maguire set out to win at all costs, evident by the way Danny Maguire was seriously injured and laughed at on the floor by the wigan players as he writhed in agony. Then there has been the constant bending back of limbs, trying to seriously maim the opposition. Even Phil Clarke has jumped on the bandwagon with his disgusting comments about the Danny Maguire incident.
I think its fitting that the 2 fairest teams in the comp, who have been on the receiving end of Wigans tactics should contest the Grand Final and make it a proper family day out instead of the knuckle dragging, salivating neanderthals from Wigan, that would pour into manchester on grand final day.
I for one cant wait to mingle with the Leeds fans and have a beer with them, rather than having to watch my arms and legs, should wigan have got there.[/quote:3t42372l]:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_54062.gif |

| Quote: Fames "Agree about the Manly game. Unbelievable atmosphere and CP really was packed to the rafters - although I was sitting comfortably as usual with my dad and brother in the Douglas Stand...
The whole Mission Imposible week in 91 was also amazing with the Widnes game on the Tuesday being the best. For younger readers/fans there were 4 games in 6 days. Cas on Sunday, Widnes on Tuesday and Bradford on Thursday - all at Central Park. Then Leeds away on Saturday. They drew 18-18 against Bradford, having been 18-2 down as they were emotionally and also physically drained after the Widnes game. More injuries and suspensions ( Super Kel) for the Leeds game but inspired by Hanley ( who pulled his hamstring late in the game which badly affected him in the CC final against Saints 2 weeks later), Dennis Betts and Bobby Goulding Wigan sealed the championship.
Great atmosphere all week and I can't believe it was 20 years ago!'"
Thanks for the explanation, sounds amazing, wish I could've been there.
Seen as I haven't been to any games at central park, I'd probably say good fridays game this year. I absolutely loved it, especially when Faz went over.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| Best I have been to was Leeds play-off in 2003 and Bradford play-off 2008.... neither were for singing but just pure tension.
Best for singing must be the away wins at saints down the years.
The manly game etc. were before my time.

| Wembley 1985 - that was the last time 100,000 were allowed onto the stadium for any sport. My ears aren't great, but it was deafening and just when you didn't think it could get any louder, it did.
Headingley 1986 - Over 24,000 + and 'zipzip' Ella stuffed Leeds almost on his own. The open terrace/end was jammed with Wigan fans and it was a night match.
1987 - Manly - 40,000 - A jampacked Central Park. Nothing better.

The loss to STS in the lancs cup final at Central Park when Menninga played (1984 ?).
26k was the official attendance. It was so loud and a great game/atmosphere (even though a loss)..'"
Yes it was pretty noisy. I still have the video for that match somewhere where Ray French mentions about all the noise.

| I too am too young to remember the Manly game, but for me it would have to be the Bradford Playoff at Odsal where Pat kicked the drop goal to win, or the one against Bradford at the JJB, can't remember the year but Renouf made a break with a few seconds to go and Radlinski scored leaving Farrell with a kick to win the match, that was immense!!
