Greatest overseas signing - Dean Bell has to be up there IMO. He epitomised everything that Wigan stands for.
But overall greatest signing, surely it has to be Shaun Edwards, with the very greatest of respect to Billy Boston (who was a more naturally gifted player)?
We signed Shaun for £35k on his 17th birthday in 1983. The rest is history.
Most variable signing - Gene Miles - rubbish for the first half of the season while he recovered his fitness and then absolutely incredible for the remainder of the season, by the end of that season he was playing rugby league on a different planet. Why we didn't sign him up for one more season is beyond me. Was there ever a bigger missed opportunity?
