Daft idea, surely it would be easier for the electronic turnstile system to recognise the season ticket on entry to the Barrow game, just as it does for league games? Would save on printing out 10k+ tickets and serving customers at the ticket office.

That would be for the best but I'm pretty sure every other club had to go and collect tickets last year.

We had too as we were away. If we have an electronic system we should use it.

I'd imagine that the requirement to collect a printed ticket has something to do with the RFL wanting to know how many STHs take up the offer and attend the games (to determine whether it is worth continuing the scheme).

Finding out from each club how many free tickets were claimed from their ticket offices is probably easier than asking how many went through the turnstiles and then trying to find out and then subtract the number of paying match ticket holders from each club from the attendance figure.

The town's football club (Barrow AFC) average about 1,200. Last season when they played Sunderland away in the FA Cup, 8,000 fans made the trip over to the North East. The Barrow fans turn up in numbers for the big occasions. Even in the 2009 Championship Grand Final, Barrow fans easily outnumbered the Fax fans (the 2009 Final against Fax attracted 2,000 more fans than the 2010 final between Fax and Featherstone).

Should be a good occasion.
