| Quote SaintsFan="SaintsFan"No they weren't. Murphy, Wakefield, got a two match ban for a dangerous throw, but he's appealing; Steve Snitch got a one match ban for something else and Godwin got a two match ban for throwing a punch. If you go by the number of games missed through a ban then Murphy and Godwin were worse than Lima since Lima got a one match ban for two offences.'"
So there were only 2 chicken wing offences all weekend?

Obviously took what i mean the wrong way. I dont want us to turn into football thats all.
Since rugby began things happen on a pitch that shouldnt but are usually righted by the wronged person.

Oooh - eh! Tough guy talk because someone proposes an alternative argument.
I'm not suggesting he did nothing at all. But perhaps it's a matter of degree. Few people I know who saw the game felt he'd committed a grievous offence. There was no explosion of anger at the time. It's entirely possible he felt that if he put his hand up and spared the court an inquest, he'd be dealt with leniently. It happens all the time in real legal affairs.

Clearly we don't want to descend into the farce that is soccer but retaliation isn't really an ideal solution. Many bad hits and severe injuries can occur when there is deliberate play of that kind.

Now this is what I'd call a real man's approach. In fact, I think the whole matter has been dealt with by men, rather than some of the immature idiots posting on this forum. Wilkin was man enough to go through the proper channels to protect other players, fully aware that he was likely to get stick for doing it. The men at the RFL were man enough to examine the evidence and upon seeing it charge and find Lima guilty of the offences, warning him that it would be worse for him next time around. Lima was man enough to admit to those offences and the Wigan coach man enough to allow due process rather than do a Leeds coach and try to get his player off. That's how all these processes should be dealt with. I'm all for a bit of biff and I enjoy the physicality of rugby league, but that is all open and above-board. Chicken wing tackles are cowardly cheap shots and career-threatening.

When you say retaliation i assume you mean standing up and fighting ?
What i mean is, next time he has the ball im going to put a big hit in. Revenge does not have to cross the line.

Why should players have to put up with potentially career threatening illegal chicken wing tackles without a murmur, then only have a legal tackle as their response?
Lima's tactics were sneaky and dangerous. He admitted his guilt and hopefully he's learned his lesson, or he'll cop bigger bans later in the year. End of story.

That maybe the case if done intentionally, but no one on this thread has yet to come up with a valid answer as to why the referee didn't take action on the day.
Have we suddenly developed a bunch of ref's who have the Arsene Wenger syndrome?

What would you rather see though, Wilkin moaning to the ref or Wilkin putting Lima on his booty ala Anderson on Tickle style.
