Quote: PHIPPS "It seems to be the general consensus.
And to be honest if a side like Wigan who are playing at home and will already be into their season can't beat a side thats flown 12,000 miles halfway round the world (probably with a team that will be missing a lot of players that played in the NRL grand final) something is seriously wrong.
Wigan should win this by at least 20 points.'"
This sounds suspiciously like the sort of excuses the Aussies themselves make before these WCC matches. Or the sort of comments non-Wigan fans make to a) discredit a Wigan victory, and/or b) make a Wigan defeat seem all the more painful - in that respect it's no surprise that Saints fans are saying it.
Wigan also are likely to be missing players who played in the Grand Final, and while acclimatising after such a long journey might be a problem for St George, they are still one of the best club sides in the world.
I don't know where you got this 'consensus' from, but I can honestly say that I know no Wigan fan who expects us to win at a canter. None at all.
