There's no law says we have to have it. Saints and Hull, and even London now, don't have Americanised nicknames.
But they do differentiate RL teams from any other. If you hear a snippet of news or radio report about the Harlequins, or Bradford, or Huddersfield, you can't be certain which sport they are talking about, and 'Warriors' is certainly a tag which separates us from the wendyballers.'"


Actually Stenhousemuir FC have been known as the warriors for over 100years!

When I was Nine years old I went to Wembley with my Dad and Grandad to watch WIGAN RUGBY play Wakefield. Now Forty Eight years later I still go watching WIGAN RUGBY and have never joined in with chants containing Warriors or come to that matter ex Sent Ellins songs. All who want to go along with Warriors then fair enough I would not dream of criticising them, but to me I will always follow WIGAN RUGBY! icon_cheers.gif
