With these six new lads into the first team I make it 31 players then one more if Gaz Hock should return later in the season.
Bearing in mind we used 30 players this past season.'"
Depends on the situation regarding Deacon and Pryce.
1. Sam

12. Joel
13. O'Loughlin
14. Lima
15. McIllorum
16. Mossop

19. Hansen
20. Roberts

27. Marsh
28. Mellor

30. Powell
31. Logan
32. King
33. Crosby
34. Russell
35. Hock?
I make that between 31-33 at the start then 31-34 if/when Hock returns. Mind, promoting two outside backs and one half back to the first team would seem to spell the end for Deacon and Pryce, especially as it mentions Deacon mentoring Powell. Not quite sure what the point in stepping up a prop is though, we have loads of props plus plenty back rowers who can step up.

It's for development, so not necessarily based on who is likely to play. Training with the first team will be good for Crosby. If we have 6 or 7 props it's still worth developing a player with potential. Judging by the size of him he could become a useful player if he keeps improving. Prescott, O'Carroll and Davies have far from cemented their places for the future so there's a lot to be gained.
I doubt Matty Russell will be called up to play since he's only turned 17 this year but training with the first team squad should help his development.

| Good choices, all six of them are cracking lads, and as Rads points out, all with good attitudes.
Most will be going out on loan/dual reg, of course, which will be a lot better for them than reserves games.
I think we had a squad of 33 this year (not counting Mellor, who was injured virtually all season), with 3 of them not getting a game, so it's about the same again.

| Any chance of an assessment of these lads from regular academy followers? Who's the most likely to make an impact in time?

From those 6, I'd say Crosby, King & Russell are the best prospects, and would do well on loan at a lower SL club. The other three, though good, would probably benefit more from a dual reg contract with a good Championship club, at this stage in their development.
