Very surprised. Lima, Asotasi and Moimoi are New Zealand's best props and without them the pack will be much weaker. Particularly since it will really lack a hard-working mule. Players like Waerea-Hargreaves and Nu'uausala will provide big tempo runs but they will be missing that solid platform that Lima and Asotasi lay. Kearney knows Lima very well from his time in Melbourne and has always indicated that he rates Lima very highly, so I suspect there is some other reason -whether injury or personal- for Lima being omitted.



Finch has a good kicking game without it being spectacular. The biggest thing is that he hasn't been kicking all that much over the past two seasons, so it may take a while for him to get back into the swing of things.

And to have Hansen and Mossop not even in the 17!

Reading this just makes me want the season to start again already. Madge is going to have one hell of a (nice) headache in trying to select a team, but whereas injuries plagued us in the past, with this squad the strength in depth is there for all to see.
