i was in the north tier 1 row LL so quiote low down to the corner flag in the "wigan end" but lets remember this, jut because it was the "wigan end" it doesn't mean it was wiganers who made ALL the noise.
before the match i saw a bunch of fans (no idea what team they supported) in centurion / roman attire, obviously a bunch of lads out on the razz hoping to have a good day out, which is understandable.
from my seat i could hear quite clearly the noise and it was definitely from the are in the stand where these fans where as during the minutes silence and after the game had kicked off there was an abundance of stewards around them trying to calm them down and even trying to stop retailiation from a few wigan fans from what i could see - i know i was still quite a way away to be honest. but that bunch of roman fans whoever they were were definitely part of the disturbance and i can only assume the wigan fans in that stand kicked off because it was them who started it.
rightly so, the wigan fans should not have retaliated but whether the fans who did retaliate were drunk and mouthing off unnecessarily or even just passionate fans upset at the noise during the mintes silence it still shouldn't have happened.
more evidence to suggest silences are a thing of the past and maybe they should evolve into minutes applauses. sport evolves, so why can't the ways to show respect evolve. at least if there was idiots mouthing off during the applause no one would be able to hear it!
such a shame for terry, but i'm sure he was rolling his eyes just as much as the rest of us and shook it off once the game began. hope you enjoyed it fella
