Kind of ironic that the all ‘emotional energy’ going into this game seemed to surround Saints number 9 and now it’ll be about Wigan’s number 9.

Wigan winning for Newton could become the media focus rather than Saints winning for fat Bob.

i'm not sure we should go with that song, it's inevitable that everyone will sing different words and get confused about what the words should be.

i think something as simple as "one terry newton, there's only one terry newton......" would be the best way to go.

Yeh true I just didn't think it was appropriate to sing those lines and on a previous thread someone had said that we should sing that song thats all.

i wasn't saying it was a bad idea, just putting forward an alternative point of view

My personal thoughts are these:

Despite the fact that I didn't like the "doing time" line, hence the suggestion for the new one, IT DOESN'T MATTER !!!!!!

The main thing for me is the sentiment, which is the chanting of Terry's name.

Therefore, if some people sing the "doing time" version, others feel uneasy about that and sing this (or any other) version, that's fine.

The main bit is that we will hear WE LOVE YOU NEWTON sung by thousands, which is the sentiment that we wish to portray.

(After all, I wouldn't *really* let Locky do my wife, but it doesn't stop me singing the rest of the song out of adoration for an outstanding player)

I cringe at that Sean O'loughlin song - please scrap it.

It's awful ain't it. You look at who's singing it and I'd say 95% of em' haven't even popped their cherry let alone taken a woman down the ailse.
