But always supporting the greatest team in the greatest game - Wigan RLFC.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_52031.jpg
I've often wondered if the players get media training. I mean. I know it's not the top priority for an RL player but senior players are likely to have to talk to the media quite a bit and just a few tips would really help them to come across well and avoid basic errors. Like Joel with the shifting from side to side - and like Myler when at Salford and in his MOTM interview with Bill Arthur used the F word on live telly.

To be honest other than that (which I'm guessing was nerves), Joel's public speaking has come on a lot. Other than a few grammatical errors which a lot of Wiganers seem to make ("when we got beat off Bradford" for example) he's a pretty good speaker, doesn't rush his words, doesn't use repitition too much and gives interesting answers.
A couple of seasons ago I was at a game with a company I work with and we were asked to pick MOM. We picked Joel but we were asked to pick again because he wasn't good at making speeches (which he would have to do in the lounge as mom) so apparently they trust him enough now to let him be interviewed!
