Quote: Steve Ella's Beard "Ask Eamon O'Carroll for a start, or Eorl Crabtree when Morley tried to smash him and got put on his arris.

Things happen to all players in the right (or more accurately wrong) set of circumstances. Harrison didn't one on one 'bounce' Fielden, Stu took hitup after hitup into 3/4 big defenders going all guns blazing on him - one of those hits ups resulted into Harrison's shoulder impacting with a great deal of force into Stu's chin (Harrison wasn't first man tackling, Stu had been 'teed up').

Unsuprisingly after a shot like that (which required him leaving the field of play and being assessed by the doctor) his game wasn't as good as prior to that shot - although he still did a big shift in defence.

Morley, Peacock, Vella, Graham, anybody flesh and blood, would have been reeling from that Harrison hit and also been unable to prevent it. It's just one of those things that happens in a Rugby match. I played prop all throughout school, flattened plenty of people, been flattened in situations to, never once did I think a situation like on Friday was either them or myself being soft and getting dominated, and neither did the people I played against.

It's a seriously tough sport, and I can respect all the players playing it - there's far less physically demanding ways to earn a living'"

So because Morley caught an unintentional knock to the face which broke his cheekbone he was outplayed by OCarrol, and because he bounced of Crabtree on a single occassion, afterwards getting up to try again, he was crumbled then as well?

Eddie summed Fielden up perfectly on the night after he took the knock "If he was a boxer youd have to question his chin"

There really isn't any further discussion when you don't apply the same logic across the board.

No logic at all in a comparison of Fielden to Morley. We will see what the coach decides to do with his props.

FWIW, I thought he was superb in his year here especially towards the end of the season when he started the majority of games. Organised us well in the first 20 until Higham came on, and then when we needed a steady head to keep it tight in the closing 10-15 he was there again putting kicks in from dummy half and making sure we did nothing stupid.

I agree, I thought we missed him quite a bit in 2008 as we never really replaced him. We missed that little bit of composure in the final part of games which could of been the difference between winning or losing. Its funny how you only realise sometimes you miss a players presense, after he has gone.

Millard did an excellent job for us in his season here. A few (not many) of us pointed it out much to the displeasure of the majority.

Just like now when Riddell is on the field we also looked better as a team when Millard was on. Yes he was slow, but his passing and decision making from acting half was very good, as was his defence.
