What like the 35 minutes of continuous 'Barmy Army' like we had at the Quins game?
I still believe that that chant contributed to us losing that game.
What absoloute tosh! These are professional sportspeople, so what your saying is if 20-30 st helns fans chant barmy army for the derby, it will throw the team. We lost the game for many factors, The Barmy Army Chant wasnt one of them. Shows how little you understand of the sportsmans brain to keep banging your drum on this ridicuolus view.

| well said paul, theres way too much talk of this all over this forum. If that was the case the err, how could quins deal with it and totally take us apart. If it was the case we'd better talk to there coach and find out. But then we dont beed to cause its nonsense.
I have been to many a game in the past when the atosphere was low, and the south stand crew, gave the barmy army banter for a bit and the team scored.
Also to add sportmen dont listen to the crowd in general, otherwise with the close proximity to the crowd it would be easy to throw players games. Quite simply they close there external auditory loop.
Personally i enjoy the singing, sometimes i take part, and am sick of this nonsense that has been sprouted too mant times about it costing us the quins game. I think its perhaps a case of pavlov and his dogs. Ie whilst watching your team fall apart hearing a tune and connecting the two. But the tune had nothing to do with why we fell apart, nothing!!

That's the point. The song & beat give the team a lift when it needs to get on a roll, develop a rhythm. I'll give you an example of when it worked. That derby game a few years ago we won 22-20 (i think) at the JJB when we were decimated with injuries. It definately galvinised the team. That was different. We were out of it with nothing to lose. Now at Quins they started doing it when Quins were dead and buried. Quins scored and they still carried on banging out the rhythm, Quins scored again and so the beat continues. Quins start to associate this with the timing of their comeback. Whether we agree of disagree on this point, the fact was that Quins scored 4 tries whilst we were still saluting their efforts with the same joyful beat in the stands. Someone should have thought lets try another song to fire up Wigan because this one sure as hell isn't working.

I am sorry but I can't believe you continue with this debate.
The ryhthm did not help quins at all.

| So now the opposition win games because of the songs/chants WE sing??!!
Don't talk bo##ox!
When we play sts we best all just sit there in silence incase our songs inspire them to score tries!
