Quote: Father Ted "Perhaps his role will be to assist the coaches and coaching in schools, improve that and the standard of play at that level.
Teachers have a lot to deal with these days and any help in improving the standards at schools level can improve the game in time to come.'"
Unless the teacher takes specific interest in Rugby League, the school unfortunately does nothing about it. I'm a qualified coach for ages 5-11 for all sports, my favourite obviously being rugby. I've been to primary schools and have taught kids rugby - many didn't even know of the game except from the shape of the ball. The teacher had little influence at all.
Even refereeing the events where many primary schools appear, a lot just turn up for the sake of it. Only in some schools is rugby still popular.
