Quote MattyB="MattyB"I wonder if RLFANS had existed back in the mid-eighties whether we would have had the same vitriolic postings following the announcement of the departure of Colin Clarke and Alan McInness? (Who'd just won the cup final BTW)!! Back then it took a brave decision by our chairman who knew that the 'right man' could lift Wigan to new levels.
Could history repeat itself here?
To quote Kevin Keegan......'I'd love it, love it for us to win some silverware under our new coach'.
I suggest someone bookmarks these threads, so we can look back on them in 12 months....!!!'"
Looking back at my post I can fully say that this has been BY FAR the most enjoyable season for many a year.
Back in 1987 we were lucky enough not to have had a playoff system, Wigan were crowned as true Champions having only lost two league games all season, had the 'rugbyposts' not been moved we would also be crowning a Championship win on Friday Evening - but ce la vie.
Wigan this season have possibly been coached as well as (if not better to perform) than Graham Lowe's 1986/1987 team, as Lindsay made signings and they strengthened along the way, whereas we haven't (other than Deacon).
