| I'd keep him, even if we don't make the final.

| Of course I'd keep him.
All the morons that said otherwise could look back to this thread and ask themselves how they came to their conclusion if we don't do more than "just reach the GF in 2009" in future years with a prospective new coach.
PS: Before the bombardment starts, re-read the question, it doesn't include any caveats suggesting "if a decision has been made already", it clearly states "would you keep him if we got there"

| I think the original question is accademic anyway. I'm quite sure Nobby's employment is already sorted for next year and beyond! I thank Nobby for developing our club as it is deffo in a much better position now than it was when he came. To answer the original question, NO I wouldn't keep him if we got to GF unless we had no alternative. I don't think WANE should go from reserve team coach to 1st team. I'd like to see Michael Maguire with WANE as assistant.

| I think he should go for the reasons explained on the other thread.
Those suggesting that we might not replace him with anyone better are correct, there is a risk that we end up with a less able coach than BN but I think we have to trust in IL that he will find someone with new ideas and with the drive and determination to take Wigan that final step to closing the gap on our rivals and then pushing us on to regain our status as the leading club in British RL...

Morons, eh?
So we've had 'thick', 'stubbon', 'mule-headed', and now we've got 'morons' ... despite several posters going out of their way to explain as eloquently as possible why they'd prefer someone else, and getting almost no reasoned response to most of the points they've put forward.
I'd suggest that some contributors to this forum haven't had their best week.

Couldn't agree more, I've already expressed similar opinions on this before and come to the same coaching conclusion as you.

| Quote Odemwingie="Odemwingie"For me, us winning the grand final this year would not be because of Noble but because the players have put their minds to it for the play-offs, we need a coach who can motivate us for the entire season, its why Wane is the guy for the job.'"
I agree and that's what happens every year. We should have beaten an average Warrington side to reach Wembley. I can't erase that from my mind.

Some however seem to want to sack him irrespective of wether we have a better option, just anyone other than Nobby!
OR
Some would keep him just because of 1 GF appearance and not because he is or isn't the right man for the next 2/3 years!'"
I certainly would not do the latter.
As to the former you need to define what you mean by "a better option" given carrying on as we have this last three seasons with Noble in charge is definitely not an option in itself IMO. IMO keeping him on because there is no "better option" would likely mean we would be no better and so I'd expect another slow start and another 11 or 12 losses in 2010.
Look at it from that way and even an inexperienced coach such as Wane looks a promising candidate.

| Just ask yourselves this question... How many coaches would have nearly two thirds of supporters wanting them out EVEN if they take the club to the glory of a grand final? When you answer that question you will be a lot closer to knowing what the good, intelligent folk of Wigan think of that lugubrious clown and his ideas on how rugby should be played.
For those who are now dropping their trousers for him i suggest you look back to the magic victory over Saints when the strong rumour at the time was the team finally railroaded what he was asking of them and played for themselves. Same again perhaps?

A mindless thing to say IMO, what have Wigan got to be spiteful for?
