Got to be honest i've literally just finished watching the replay and was going to come on and post how suprised i was at Fieldens level of preformence.
Watching it closer and out of the heat of the moment he got us some momentum in the 2nd half by constantly finding his front and not getting turned on his back. He didn't made many metres at all but didn't get dominated either.
He did however miss a couple of poor tackles in the first half and made a handling error but overall his preformence was decent.
He can preform so much better for us though. I'd just like to see him look more 'up' for games.
He looks very flat at the moment.
Lets just get something straight about this, Fielden is what 60/70% of the player of 3/4 years ago?????
His wages are whatever they are, we can't do anything about that and irrespective of What we are paying a player I try to look at whether he actually deserves a place in the team.
Fielden I admit has been a disappointment compared to the Very High expectations we ALL had of him.
HOWEVER
There are many things he does bring to the team that aren't "Special" but are needed by the team to make us more effective and these things are often not the Eye Catching things that are Noticed ala Bailey/O'Loughlin
Theres no doubt he's covering Fekas backside in the tackling department and the partnership they seem to have is working in that we no longer seem to look vulnerable just before & Just after HT when Feka is usually on.
His yards per carry arent actually any different than what they have been for the past 5 or 6 seasons inc the season he was ajudged Best forward in the world!
He is making more tackles per game than he has at Any Time in his career and Pro Rata (Considering he's only playing 45/55 minutes each week now comapred to 80 minutes in 2004/2005/2006/2007) He is Averaging Massively more per game.
I believe the Only part of the game (And I admit it was probably the Part we bought him for!) is the Attacking/breaking the line prop of 2005 early 2006!
According to the Stats he used to make 14/15 Clean Breaks a season at bradford, Whilst at Wigan he's made 4 in 3 seasons!!!!!!!!!!!!
However he's now averaging 25/26 tackles a game when only playing what 50mins a game???
He used to average 21/22 tackles a game when playing 80!!!!!!!!
Overall
A disappointment - Yes!
Has he shirked the workload - No!
And given he's probably taking a lot of Payback from other forwards he has dished it out to over the years he's still there week in week out and very rarely misses a game in a Sport where he could find an excuse/injury Not to play each week and collect his money without trying!'"
I was suprised watching the replay at his level of preformence because at the game i thought it was pathetic yet watching the replay it went up to 'decent'.
Decent isn't enough for me i'm afraid for a guy thats getting paid such a good wage. I don't see why we should just sweep that under the carpet

He does deserve a place in the side( just about) at the moment but he really does, by his own standards, look a spent force and pretty much ready for hanging the boots up(if money wasn't getting in the way).
My second point stands in that i don't understand why people make so many excuses for him! It goes from burnout to the mason punch to a lack of support from the other props and now to the fact he's carrying Feka's ar*e through games.
The 'fact' is he isn't producing anywhere near his best form and we paid out nearly half a million quid and gave him a top wage to prouduce his best. We can't afford in the age of the salary cap to be carrying a top earner just because he makes an extra 5 tackles per match then he used to! We need him to hit the mark each and every week.
I look forward to next season with interest tbh. It's his last year on this huge deal and if he wants another with Wigan or anywhere else we'll have to see a huge turnaround in form from him. I get the feeling we'll see a totally different Stuart Fielden then we have for the past 3 and a half years which will tell it's own story i'm afraid.
