[size=134=blueDAVID RYBKA & THE VICTORIAN DAD BAND: WIGAN vs. LEEDS RHINOS 24/07/2009
Local “Supergroup” to play at The Wigan Warriors Showcase Stage!

The Wigan Warriors Showcase Stage finally returns with a bang (or should that be a crash of cymbals?) after what seems like ages, when the Warriors look to continue their rich vein of form against on form rivals Leeds Rhinos this weekend at the JJB Stadium.
Kick starting the entertainment for the night and making their debut performance on the stage are David Rybka & The Victorian Dad Band.
The band Band formed in Swinley, Wigan in the summer of 2007 and played their first gig at the Haigh Hall festival to an audience of 5,000 or more. Hailed as “Wigan’s Super group” by the Wigan Reporter and has grown from strength to strength. They have had Elbow come watching their gigs. And The Smiths drummer Mike Joyce has played them on his radio show.
David Rybka has been song writing and playing music since 15 years old and grew up with most of the band, James G Wilson (Guitars) Tom Doherty (Bass) Matt Mcnicolas (Drums) and met Tom Yates (mandolin) Fran Lyidiatt (organ/keys) a few years back with them also coming from the great town of Wigan. Mike Kenny also joined a few months back on fiddle adding even more melody to the music. As the band is ever changing and developing they also have Alabaster de plume on Sax and Rick Warren on Harmonica.
The band now all mid 20’s, are currently finishing off recording their debut album “The Thin Thread” which was recorded at Jaraf House Studios Wigan (to be released on Skinny dog records) and is due out in the very near future. Also on the album will be the 1st video for the song “No Fashion”, which was filmed around Wigan and Manchester.
Lead vocalist Dave Rybka is also currently recording his debut Solo album due out on (Re-interpreted Performance records) in December/January
They have just come back from Playing festivals over in Northern Spain and are due out their again in December, and next year. Their influences range right across the spectrum of music, an eclectic taste. Primarlly Rock n Roll, Folk, Americana, Very original music.
In October the band will be infront of 100’s of labels and journalists to perform at British Music Week 2009 in London which they hope will put Wigan back on the musical Map following in the footsteps of the The Verve and Starsailor, check their website for more details on gigs releases etc..details at www.myspace.com/victoriandaad
=blueDavid Rybka & The Victorian Dad Band will be playing on the ‘new look’ Wigan Warriors Showcase Stage will be in the usual place located outside the North-East corner of the stadium (facing the JJB Soccer Dome) from about an hour before kick-off (8pm).
Supporters can watch the bands at most home games on the Warriors Showcase Stage: from rock to indie, metal to punk, acoustic to dance.
Previous acts/bands performing on the stage have included Wigan stalwarts such as Simon Fox, The Randoms, The Atomic Hound Dog, The Cut, This Devastated Fan, Darren Poyzer, Wallgate Circus, Plasmastorm and Inside View, alongside a host of other young bands.
