| Quote Mr.Brightside="Mr.Brightside"Ask yourself why Briers settled for Wales. He's a good player on his day but is too inconsistent and a poor professional IMO.'"
Because he is Welsh and proud of his roots. Very much the same as Lam choosing PNG over the Aussies. Should be ridiculed for putting your hand up for your country!
The guys who should be getting the stick is those bailing on the lesser countries to play for a bigger team, such a Calderwood last year

Yeah, deserves credit for sticking with the Scots! I'm sure he would have got the nod for England if he pledged allegiance to them

| Quote kevl84="kevl84"The thing with briers for me is that he is a really good playmaker, and yes I can see what Wire Ste is saying. When he plays well Warrington play well.
But as said above he's like a little kid on the pitch. Always around the referee like Sinfield does at Leeds, and always trying to "milk" a penalty.
Diving on the floor when no one has touched you to get a penalty in Rugby is worse than a footballer diving in the box to trick the ref. You're playing rugby, get up and play the ball and stop acting!!'"
i do hope you told martin offiah that when he used to wiggle on the floor to milk a penalty back "in the day"

Now how hard he pushed him is a different matter, but maybe your annoyance should be at your player for a silly push for no reason other than to slow the ptb down. Had Briers not gone down, no penalty would have been forthcoming, and Tomkins' cheating would have worked, as he would have slowed the ptb down.
It's quite simple, don't push him, and he wouldn't be able to go down easily.

Think thats a bit harsh. Briers can be a prick but so can all decent half-backs, - it seems to come with the territory.
Tomkins is always going to get thrown about a bit simply because he weighs 2 stone wet-through but this is nothing new, it happens to Burrows, Dobson, Deacon etc.... could go on

| Lee Briers has pished most of hius ability up a wall, could have been a very special player bags of potential at Saints but he chose to enjoy the social side of the game more than he should and his career has shown this. For much of his career he has been a decent player but very patchy now he is patchy but the decent performances are becoming less and less frequent. Its a real shame as i seriously believe he could have been world class.
Regards his treatment of Tomkins, i am not sure what people expect. Wire wanted to win the game, Tomkins was a lad that could have prevented this, he is young and lightweight, of course he was going to come in for some stick. This is rugby not football. If we sanitise it to the nth degree and moan about challenges like that and a bit of the rough stuff we may as well just advocate the use of no tackles and play tag rugby.

| Briers is an overated bully and a coward, who dives around like Drogba. He only gets the exposure from sky because Eddie loves him. I remember Briers trying to get all rough with Cunningam a couple of years ago. Cunningham got up and pushed him he went down as if he had been shot by an AK47. The guy is a disgrace, who only turns up when he wants to. Apart from his kicking game, imo he doesnt offer much else to the team.

Get over it... if he is such a bad player, why has this thread got 7 pages of posts? I suggest it is because he is a player like Sean Long (not talking about ability now), that I personally dislike because he causes us problems everytime we play. Love him or hate him he has been a very good player for Warrington over the last 11 years, and just to let you know, since Tony Smith arrived, he has been outstanding!
