| If the issue had been purely does Nobby play Pat Richards or Shaun Ainscough, then I think Nobby would have been vindicated - to some tune. But I don't think there was ever any danger that Richards would have been dropped for Ainsough. Most likely he'd have been moved to full back, where the return to form of Phelps is what seems to be causing the selection difficulty.
That said, it's good that Nobby is now getting praise for a difficult and unpopular decision which seems to have paid off. He gets enough stick when these things go wrong.
I still don't think he's the man to take us forward. Even if we've genuinely turned a corner and go on a winning streak that takes us to within touching distance of trophy glory, we could start next season just as badly as all the others and by mid-term be half way down the table. That seems to have been the pattern under Nobby.
But there's no denying, flattening Saints has done a lot for his credibility round town.

| The sound from Nobbys critics has been deafening by it's silence.
One dimensional
Lost the dressing room
No idea of tactics
I could go on..............
I would cut and paste some of the cr*p that has been posted on here, but I need to go back to work a week on Thursday............
Nobby stepped up to the mark (and apparently wants to be paid in cabbage ).
He dropped the top tryscorer knowing full well that he would leaving himself in the firing line if it backfired. He could have taken the easy option, the low risk option, the option that wouldn't have put [ihis[/i head on the block.
Instead he took the right option for the team. The rest is history.

| Credit to the gaffer he was the Master on saturday doing what he did - His players do the business the credit is all his... as it is when its the other way round.
Dunno bout anyone else but i like the manager in a suit, represents the club better... anyway, great moment when he hugged Sean Ainscough at the final whistle. Yet another reason to be welling up on saturday
Mr Noble 10/10

| Not more rubbish.......people sound like the sky commentators on here....you'da thought that by playing ainscough we would have lost
The fact of the matter is had ainny been playing on pats wing he would have scored both those trys, and pat would have still kicked the goals from FB. dropping ainny had little or no bearing on the game and he still should have played IMO!!

| One thing I didn't understand was going 18-0 up, and not one expression on Nobby's face... amazing
The team seems to be gelling now, 3 wins in a row - lets keep it going
Anyone see Tim Smith's interview, poor lad was so nervous infront of the cameras. Deserved MOM in my opinion.

Nah, credit where credits due. Putting Richards back on the wing was a good choice and he owned Gardner through experience. Plus I thought Phelps had another good game and didnt deserve to be dropped, he links in the attacking plays very well (and flattened Long which deserves a medal).
Like Ainscough said, its going to be hard for him to get back in after that performance.

| surely ainscough owned gardner on maundie thurs.....lets be honest this is gardner were talkin about, he hardly needs much owning.
The fact that ainny has had to make that comment is extremely frustrating. he has done nothing wrong, been one of our best players all season, top of the try scoring charts, and now he 'sees it difficult getting back in'. Something like this could ruin his career, and if nobby carrys on not playing him because he has is favourates and his face doesnt fit then he will end up elsewhere in the next season or so and we will lose another gem as he is clearly good enough for super league and clearly knows this!! If we dont give him a chance someone else will.
For me roberts should be dropped or benched to make room for ainny. Yes roberts had a good game on sat but has played nowhere near to ainnys standard this season....and unfortunately it now seems with noble at the helm ainscough will only get chances when players are injured

Oh god. A one eyed, utterly incorrect assessment if I have ever seen one.
Ainscough will get plenty chances this season. He has done nothing wrong in attack, but his defence is suspect, Noble is helping him develop that - I know, how stupid.
Having so much competition amoungst the backs is no bad thing.
