| Quote jjb10="jjb10"No me & Fielden aren't related. It just bores me that every time Wigan lose. Its either Fielden or Lockers who we should drag outside Wigan Town Hall and shot.
The guy is playing in a young light weight pack with 2 average hookers, not to mention he is in a leaderless team. But because he is meant to be on at least 200k a year its his fault. TBH Roberts bombed 2 easy opportunities to score and then dropped Wilkin's bomb for Pryce's try no 6 page spread on him being 3. We also scoot over the fact that he is a damn good defensive player but because he can't hit the ball like Feka (who cant tackle), he is 3. We also keep using him as dummy runner as someone else has pointed out, his last 2 tries came against Bradford and if my memory serves me right where from about 5 yards out. As a team we dont use our big guys enough near the line.
Last season when we needed him and made him captain he performed, the season we where looking at relegation guess what? he performed.
This year i admit his performance hasn't made me run out and get his name on the back of mine or my kids tops. But although people on here dont like stats he isn't the worst player in the team. We need Fielden in the team, but we also need a better platform for the props to work off.'"
Stuart makes straight up tackles. Nobody can argue on that. He never hurts opponents. He can be a liability in defence when the ball is being moved about and attackers are using foot work. I thought Feka put some good hits in defensively v Saints. Stuart just cannot time runs or run into space. You cannot keep blaming the hooker. He has had what 6 different hookers? so you cannot then say oh it's Higham's fault. His running lines re just not very good.

Im not going to pass comment on that world class hooker Higham.
But you have to admit we give Fielden all the hospital balls. As a team we dont use our props well. The only one we let run on to the ball is Feka, but if you watch Feka normally gets it from TL not directly from the play the ball.

I've backed both when they've deserved it but Fielden just doesn't warrent it at the moment.
I think the big difference between the 2 also is that at best Lockers is an international class player whereas Fielden was the best in his position in the world and looked to be going onto be one of the best of alltime.
By his own standards Lockers has never had he alarming dip in form that Fielden has.
Fieldens fall from grace is the most spectacular in rugby league history.

| But why when we lose is it mainly Fieldens fault?
Is he the reason when we win?
The word is escapegoat. He is an easy target because of who he was when we signed him and what he earns.

It wasn't his fault that we lost on Friday but he could have done more to help us win. He had a very poor game what ever way you look at it and to beat a team like Saints i think you need all your 17 to play somewhere approaching their best.
If Fielden had played towards his best we'd have blitzed them because his best 'is the best'.
He hasn't played at his best since his debut against Warrington for us though. He approached somewhere near it at the back end of last year but it still wasn't quite vintage.
Players like Fielden set such high standards that they make a rod for their own backs and live or die on keeping those standards up.
He's dying on his ar*e at the moment.

| If we changed Stuart's contract to 100K a year that will be trebled if he wins man of steel...you would see a very different Stuart Fielden. He is complacent. He's making the big bucks no matter how he plays. Change his contract to a performance based contract and he'll be back to his best in no time.

We'll see a different Fielden next year i'm convinced when he knows he's coming towards the end of his Wigan deal.

| Id try and get Fielden out, it would be worth paying him off to free up his cap space for next year. Fielden is Wigans worst signing ever. How such a massive deal can turn so bad is beyond me. He'll be working in his subway shop in 18 months time if he doesnt sort himself out.

He'll have to put in a Golden Boot winning season to deserve a contract the likes of which he's on now.

| I dont know how anyone can defend Fielden. He has been shown up by O'Carroll and now Prescott every week. He is supposed to be the pack leader yet he regulary gets manhandled and thrown around by smaller players and is consistantly making errors. He is either finished, got a long term injury or doesnt really have the heart to play for Wigan.
