Quote: stayinlondon "On answer to the Broncos team YES I think we were shameful, weak, clueless and the team were disloyal to every fan that travelled by putting in no effort at all. Friends who watched the game couldnt believe LB were such a non competitive team. In answer to your question about Wigan - again yes they were technically brilliant but more importantly they played with pride and passion. Strange we have fans who will support and clap the team no matter what dross they serve up and Wigan have fans who cant t be bothered to pay a local bus fare to get to the game but I bet they will all be excellent journeymen when it comes to Wembley they will have so many fans on that day. The pride and passion Wigan team play with deserve better from it's fans.'"

When it looked like Wigan might be relegated their crowds actually increased. Wigan fans are very loyal, even if they don't turn out to watch dross like the Broncos

The club has never been very well run, there was a false dawn when Lenegan took over before retreating into his comfort zone and dropping DH in it. An earlier post mentioned getting someone like Branson involved but we have all been there too.

There is just something about the club now where players don't play to their potential and we end up playing a dreary boring brand of RL to the point where committed fans like myself can no longer be bothered to turn up.

We wrecked a showpiece semi final yesterday. thankfully the 2 teams on display today did a bit to restore the games credibility.

London needs a successful SL club it doesn't need another makeweight, there are enough of them around the M62!

Not long back after making a weekend of it. My thoughts on the weekend

Good points:

Leigh East v Elland
Leigh East's clubhouse
Chicken Balti pies
New York Brass Band
Beers and comradery with Broncos fans
Generosity of Leigh's board with the hotel rooms
Park Inn's breakfast
Oldham's clubhouse and the friendly Roughyed and Crusaders fans
Oldham v Crusaders

Bad points:

Cheerleaders had changed their outfits from the ones worn at the National Rail finals
Everything between 5 and 7 yesterday

Bentham was dreadful but so were London.

Wigan did the basics well - no more than that.

It is nearly August now, 10 May was the last time we kept a Super League side to below 30, since then: 64, 46, 30, 82, 46, 44, 34, 38, 70.

That was the happy flag waver, there was a further incident when the referee called Bronco's ball, after a knock on from Wigan, again the happy flag waver on the other side, said scrum to Wigan, giving the second knock on, not the first one! again it resulted in a try. It was one of those days when nothing went wrong for Wigan, however bad we played.

Spot on there. Why pay £20+ to watch a team of no hopers from London, best to save the money for Wembley....that's exactly what happened. Not sure where London think they took 200-300 supporters to the semi, there was nowhere near that amount, now that's pathetic.
Just to put it into context
Hull v Wire = 10,621 att
Wigan v London = 6,294 att
If there were 300 London fans there (of which I doubt very much) then Wigan had took 6,000 fans to an away game(it wasn't at the DW) If you divide the attendance at the Hull v Wire game equally then they each took 5,310 supporters. Which means that over the semi final weekend, Wigan had more away support than any other of the semi finalists, you might not like it....but its fact.

Strange idea of 'away' more like backyard! I wonder how many Wiganers will bother going to Wembley?

Back on subject of the game itself, whilst admitting that Broncos were a complete shambles, tbf, has it been noted anywhere that we were without 6 of our first choice 17 (plus Melling)?.

Even the mighty Wigan lose games when they're missing key players.

We're back to the bad old days of relying on loanees from other clubs.

That being said, would have thought that we could have come up with a better show than we did.

Can't wait for our another flogging in front of the tv cameras. icon_sad.gif

Just love how you take for granted or is that [ipathetic[/i, that everyone other than London fans were from Wigan, that is much more doubtful than the figure you mock of London fans. Not one Leigh supporter then and, what about the many fans who these days watch neutral games, plus sponsors and RFL tickets! You need to come into the real world.

So don't make me laugh, with you claims that what you say is fact!

Does that same argument not also stand for the Hull v Wire game, thus making his argument still just as valid even if the figures are slightly different? In fact, I'd have thought Hull v Wire would pick up more neutrals than Wigan v London.

Fair enough we had players missing but do you really think the likes of Witt, Randall, Howell and the wantaway skipper would have made a difference?

Rob...I think Bailey and Dixon would have made a difference, as would Witt, Howell and Randall on a good day.

Clubb I wouldn't play anyway...wouldn't have him in a London shirt again (which would suit him down to the ground!).

Bailey,Dixon fair enough, my bad, but as for the other senior players, the ones you mention haven't had anything approximating a good day over the past 2 seasons, wouldn't have expected them to have done anything on Saturday to significantly alter the outcome.

100% in agreement with you about Clubb, he's dead to me!

I like as much as everyone else here couldn't believe what I saw on Sat. I couldn't watch 2nd half, I turned over and flicked back now and then to just to make it a worse night for me. (even the wife called me a sucker for punishment).

There are two things that baffle me: Why did TR play McMeeken over the more experienced Melling. and also of all the choices he had to play in the halves with Soward, i.e. Dorn and Sarginson and even the less experienced Bishay (at less he knows how to play in that position), and the others had to be better then Jamie C in the halves.
You have to wonder sometimes at TR thinking is when it comes to Jamie C and what he see's that we don't,even when we have had better players available he still gets picked above them.

I wonder on Thurs night if we see Soward and someone else knew there in one of TR bright new ideas from the training ground. How about Soward and Dollapi...... icon_lol.gif d040.gif
