| Have to say...that was terrible. The guys didn't give up, but we looked a beaten side from 10 mins. Let's hope Tamata and Orr are 100% for next week.....it was good to hear Karl getting some recognition..

| Until we get someone with a good kicking game, we are always going to be back pedling. Everyone else kicks farther and more accurately than us. Result - we cant get into any real attacking position. Even BM addmitted our kicking game was crap. Have to put that down to a positive.
I think its time someone at the club started teaching our players how to dislodge the ball in the tackle. Possesion is critical in this game and we arent going to progress without our share of the ball and we are not winning enough of it. I counted 3 times Hull won the ball off us that way. We didn't run with the ball with any conviction, we just ran forward into the Hull brick wall.
This is going to be a long gruelling season.

| If I was a Quins fan i'd be furious with such a dismal, uninspired and dull display.
at Hull we've had 2 seasons of disappointing and boring rugby...but I don't think it ever got that dull.
your biggest issue IMO is that the whole team seems to be roughly the same height and size, there was no impact from anyone, in fact it was hard to tell from a distance who was a prop and who was a back.
sorry Quins fans, but your going to be battling Salford for the wooden spoon on that display. Hull didn't have to leave 2nd gear all game.

| On the train home with listy. What an awful inept performance, 'abysmal' according to listy.
p.s. the away shirt is fantastic.

Agree with pretty much all of this. While Mac's comments are pure 'No Sherlock', more to the point is what is he planning to do about it! We share a ground and name with a kick and clap club - so why aren't aren't we getting one of their coaches to help out, our kicking game is appalling! We did nothing inventive until the game was truly lost having played right into Hull's hands by going up the middle where they outthought and outmuscled us! Jesus wept!
Funny thing is had we made 2 different plays in the first half we might have gone in level (undeservedly) at the break!

Have to say I agree with the 'dull' comment - watched on tv with Mrs from Erith and both of us simultaneously used the d word to sum up the performance. Could be a 3 way tie for the spoon with Catalans though!

| Felt slightly sorry for your lot after tonight. Just look at the quality of personnel on offer from each side...Quins have no depth and will struggle this season but there are some decent players there. You never gave up which is 1 decent positive showing there is spirit. I disagree with the comment that someone put they looked a beaten side after 10 minutes because they could on another day of gone in at H/t level. A team who are beaten before they get there are tonight, Catalan.

| Quote: LU2 "It's going to be a long long season.
The only exciting thing about it will be that, I believe, not so super Mac is out of contract at the end of the season.
is it really his fault though? to me your squad has 'cost cutting' written all over it, there are no big names, and I'd be amazed if your spending anywhere near full cap. I'm not sure you have the personnel to challenge for a playoff spot, no matter who is in charge (you can correct me if i'm wrong!)

Your most probably correct but unfortunately the man hasn't a clue, he said as much himself last season.

If he hasn't got a clue then why wait til the end of the season when his contract's up? He clearly has no tactical acumen and I'd like to see if a hungry coach, maybe one working as an assistant in the NRL, couldn't come over here with a few new ideas and do better with our squad that Mac is doing. I've no personal beef with him but we;re going nowhere with him in charge, and haven't been for some time. We need a change as we appear to be devoid of any ideas out on the pitch. the only reason we beat Catalans was 'cos they were even worse than us!

| Danny Orr tried hard, as ever, but got nowhere.
Sharp, BJB, O'Callaghan, Smith and Bolger can look themselves in the mirror and say they gave it a go.
Te Mata unlucky to be injured, although maybe he's coming to the end of his career? Only so long you can continue getting bashed around before the body starts to break down.
LMS, Clubb, Wilkes and Golden were anonymous.
Esders just isn't good enough. Would be lucky to get a gig at a Championship club.
Randall, Williamson, Ward, Melling, Howell should all be embarrassed. These are the senior players and they just went missing, not for the first time either.
As for Brian Mc. I like the guy, I really do. He's honest, hardworking and committed, but he just isn't good enough to be a head coach at this level.
1) Promising young players have completely stagnated. LMS and Clubb have talent, no doubt about that, but they are still doing the same things (and making the same mistakes) as they were two years ago. Things that you can let slide with a promising 21 year old Londoner just aren't acceptable when they are supposed to be challenging for international honours. They simply haven't progressed.
2) The squad is still lightweight up front, despite the world and his granny knowing there is a complete lack of oomph, especially off the bench. Look around any NRL reserve grade and you'll find a couple of polynesian prop forwards who do nothing but bash and crash their way through a game, and they'd cost peanuts. There's an old saying in RL "My squad needs six props; two on the pitch, two on the bench and two suspended." You'd think an ex-prop would know thins and stop trying to use second rowers up front.
3) Injuries, again, hitting the squad before the season has even started. It's one thing to pick up broken bones, etc during a long and arduous season, but quite another to have ten players out of contention before the first game. And this isn't the first time it's happened.
4) The kicking game is still non-existent. But tbh this links in with point 2. If you're not making any ground going forward, then your kickers will always be trying to execute from a difficult position stuck in your own half. Just look at most England v Australia games. Not that that excuses poor technique.
It looks like it's going to be Quins and Salford fighting it out for the spoon this year.
