Please support Rob Purdham's testimonial season: |
|
| Quote: Londo06 "I do reckon out of the list most of those players chose their respective clubs for reasons more than money; trophies or the realistic challenge for either SL or Challenge Cup honours, others we have not followed through on.rl]'"
And very often the main reason - not having to upsticks and move house!

As can one of his predecessors in the no 7 green and gold jumper, Alfie Langer.
Oh, and there's Mal Meninga (twice).

That's a pretty big point.
The salary's most of the players are on means moving house is a pretty big step and should they ever leave (contracts are only around 2 years) then they will have to move again, disrupting their family.
Much easier to stay where you are and have a choice of clubs to play for.
Equally, we have no history, lore, and are constantly in danger of going bust.
Plus they get the privilege of having fans like Rupe and Storm

When were we ever in the hunt for Joey. Remember him saying he only went to Warrington because Alfie Langer recommended the club and the Knights were out of the finals series.

| Before he signed for Wire on loan we put in a bid that Andrew Johns himself described as "serious" in a text message a friend of mine saw. It was sent to a leading figure in British RL who I do not wish to name, that person is a friend of my friend.
Our bid was not a loan bid but a full time contract, I can't remember for which seasons tbh.

simpsons/017.jpg Welcome Quins Kitties born 02.04.09 -
Purdo - Determined, loveable with a "can-do" attitude. A born leader.
Louie - Big, white and fluffy. A very noisy prop forward.
Harley- Cute and gorgeous (just like our no.9) Well, I couldn't call her Chad, could I?
Update on Quins Mogs :-
Purdo - deffo leader amongst Mogs. The Capo.
Louie - turned out to be more like Louie Spence than LMS. Re-named Judas.
Harley - Cute but not as gorgeous as our no.9.
Oh well, at least I haven't got a Willy.:simpsons/017.jpg |

| Just remembered another one.
Ian Lenegan wanted Sean O'Loughlin to play for us. He was going to be our marquee signing and the bedrock of the team.
I remember thinking at the time where would this leave Rob Purdham ?

| At the end of 2006 season (prior to 2007) we were linked with a number of huge names. It seemed Lenegan was trying to mold out his club.
Sadly none of them came off. Dan Stains woz God has mentioned O'Loughlin, Stooper mentioned Hape and the other two names at the time were McGuire and Lesley Vainakolo. We had already Had we even got half these names things could have been a lot more enjoyable in the pitch in recent seasons.
Ronnie Quin (who sometimes posts on here) and used to write for the website using the pseudonym “The Guv'nor” stated we contacted Brad Fittler and Steve Menzies were approached prior to the 2005 season, along with one other high profile name, which escapes me entirely. I think it was a prop though.
Edit Robbie Kearns.
I believe we also took a good look at Clint Newton and Matt King as well.

| We also chased Jason Ryles and Dobson
As for Andrew Johns, i think we made a big offer to him the season after his loan move to Wolves. but i believe he had decided on one more year in NRL before making up his mind, but due to injuries decided to retire instand.
