| For me Bears just brings back memories of the rather odd few months when Paul Faires owned the club - not a happy association (or time).

| I would be perfectly happy with the name "Bears". Also, it seems that you've got opinion from people not familiar with the game who think it's a good brand name....so if the majority of other "non-believers" have the same opinion, Bears would work for me.....Hey, we could save money and use the Quins RU mascot with a different shirt ;-p
I said on the survey, and I think its important, that the kit looks sylish...I'm happy for red, yellow and blue or black and white...heck orange and black...not too bothered....my main concern is that it looks good. If it does, people will buy it (some even who don't support the team) - much like people who buy NRL shirts or foregin RU or football shirts. That is money coming into the club and boy do we need it!!
The club also need to get a good design company to create the badge/logo and strip...this then needs to be surveyed by the fans so that we get the best possible product.
Then....then all we need to do is the simple task of getting a winning team (nice and easy - not!)

Before my time, but it would offer continuation, or at least a return, and that would be something to cling to when promoting the name, or any potential name. Gus Mackay, David Hughes, Rob Purdham, etc could trump the history there, and they don't have to cite the troubled times, or that it was a relatively short time that we were known as the Fulham Bears.
I think we could turn it into a sort of a strong powerful indentity rather than the outwardly camp clown that we have at the minute.

| Quote: Londo06 "We were known as the Fulham Bears in the 1980s so I put down London Bears as an option. It offers continuation from our birth in 1980, and is an animal that has existed in England, whereas the Bronco is synonymous with South Eastern USA and Mexico. It would allow us to tap into our former existence and have either a home or away kit in the red, black and white, then utilise the well liked Bronco colours of red, blue, yellow and white.
A Bear would also give us something ferocious and masculine as people that I work with have said a few of the names sounded like girls dance groups; London Blitz, London Lions, London Storm, etc whilst others have or have in the past been names for other sporting organisations. The London Bears to the best of my knowledge would not be a legal problem either,
I like the sound of the Bears, but i would change the kits, home kit as Fulham Colours, homage to Fulham and the away in Broncos red, blue, yellow and white.

| Hell I'd risk the legal issue and have winnie the pooh and paddington bear handing out promo material at Waterloo and all the major train stations, trump Bears winter dormancy and our dormant times in the colder months of the year, hell get Bear Grylls in promoting his tv show and books, endless teddy bear and cubs jokes, (not a bad nickname for the academy teams), but it is something positive, forceful and an identity of our own, to make it our own again from 2012, and move on from the Harlequins.
(in a camp voice) 'We're the Harlequins!' Any player with a Wolf, Tiger, Giant, Warrior, Wildcat, Bull, etc in their teams name will say "Come here, you frackers, come here.!" 'Nope! Got-to catch us! If you corner me I might become a scalliwag!' ...It doesn't sound scary at all, does it?
You put the Harlequin up against a Rhino or a Crusader... that would be a short battle. (To a tune, again) 'We're the Harlequins!' (sound our player in a Harlequin shirt being knocked over "...huh? Harle-something, I didn't catch it all. Mothafracker danced up to me and gently hugged me."
If sport is played won by the mind as much as it is won by the body then surely giving the players and fans something positive to call their own, rather than a camp clown.

| Ah Fulham Bears, when we had a mobile disco, dancing girls and a fire-eater, who tried to 'eat' a 100 fire sticks by half-time. totally bonkers, totally Fulham RLFC, well before Cougarmania.

| Bears! I remember such an animal roaming the streets of Oldham in the early days of SL. Soon rightly went into extinction. Bit like Hull Sharks really.
Of course we could go the whole ridiculous hog (sorry, Keith) and name ourselves after something else that once lived here. London Dinosaurs anybody?

And the miked up Ref where the pa system his was mike up to crashed.
For what it's worth I quite fancy the London Clash. That said, frankly, you can change all you like but it won't matter a jot in terms of attendances without having a team that is capable of mounting a serious challenge for Wembley and/or Old Trafford

Name changing doesn't get us anywhere on its own. If it is part of a serious re-branding, innovative marketing and marquee players then we might be on to something. I have yet to see any evidence. I think the Skolars are a better bet for progress next season with a real chance of getting out of Championship1.

Quote: Dave Lister "If you think that will make him disgusted, then you better fetch a bucket, coz I agree 100% with HKB.'"
Gents, it is an honour to share this opinion with you.
The idea that Quins RL has failed because of the name, or location, is pure comedy. Quins RL has failed so far because (1) the team has been useless, as it was a for a few years before the move, and (2) there's been no marketing or promotion to speak of (most criminally in the first season, when the team was less useless than usual and there was a once-in-a-generation opportunity to pitch a good concept)
In answer to Jaybs, I don't advocate doing nothing...
I advocate persistent, relentless execution of the Quins RL plan. But doing it properly, ideally addressing the two issues above. If that doesn't work, then just turn off the lights because to be honest another random name change, and heaven forbid a location change, will have no positive impact whatsover. Combining either of those daft ideas with a better team and better marcomms will have an impact, yes, but then why not try that with Quins RL instead of wasting time, money and energy on all this rebranding nonsense.
Seriously, the lunatics have taken over the asylum.

| The move to the Stoop was a stupid idea in the first place. You are in the shadow of "Twickers" in more ways than one, but it would be pointless to move now. To change the name would just look sad/desperate. Just need to keep trying to improve, and getting involved with the community. But the basic problem is where you are, and the name, but would be pointless to change. I really don't envy you fans at all, but admire you.
