| Aussie Rules at your club I feel and Powell would be more suited to a less demanding role at the club. The imports will not respect either his qualities, previous professional performances at SL level or his age.
Such as Gower, Dorn & Bryant have more experience in their little finger than RP at this level and just wont be playing for him.
LB - with so many antipodeans need either an experienced Aussie (even Dave Woods would do) or Brian Noble immediately if not sooner.

| By the sounds of it I'm glad I didn't take advantage of my day off and make the journey up to watch our boys and see the new Salford ground, sounds like we have brought in good pro's and kept the fragile mentality that we have had with our weak squads over recent seasons. If this continues for much longer I will be joining those calling for Powell to step down or step aside because it seems to be mental rather than structural, and that is not something that gets readily fixed without bringing in a player (ie Henry Paul when he joined the club) and that is a problematical option with Hickey ineligible and the club at or around the salary cap. The other more obvious one would be to bring in a proven coach, and a proven winner who seems to be a good man-manager and motivator; Brian Noble in and we have a chance at going for the play-offs, leave it for much longer and we can write of this season (and potential crowd boosts) until 2013.

| Right now the club is a joke. Powell should hand in his resignation.

| The morning after the night before and time to reflect. Was my general downer based on the appalling journey up (5 hours for a 3 hour trip), the fact we got there JUST in time and then we, like hundreds of other, had to queue up to buy a ticket to get on and missed our best 10 minutes ......... or was the performance that bad !
No, in reflection the performance was bad, no woeful. Preparation, application, skill, game plan, motivation all ABJECT, although I dont think I can totally criticise effort.
At the end of the day, offensively, the half backs are looking incompetent as they dont have players giving them options, and frankly I remain totally unconvinced by both Witt (especially) and Gower (honeymoon period). The hookers are just basically has beens who offer nothing - wayward and inaccurate passes from dummy half, scoots thats my granny could make a better fist of and general weakness in defence - why did we get rid of Ellis and bring back that clown Rinaldi ? Robertson and Colborn look like they have had the motivational stuffing knocked out of them. O'Callaghan is never a centre, in fact if he was at any other SL club would he get a run and the other centre is so defensively inept its embarrassing. The starting props at least gave it a go, but even they seemed to loose interest when they looked at the jokers around them. As for the back three, well least said the better really - its saying something that one week the lock is Clubb, the next its Melling. Caro and Krasniqi, nothing to say other than young lads trying hard. Has Cook been living up to his name as he looks like he is carrying 3 stone round his gut. And for once I cant criticise Dorn.
So the hard facts are Hughes went out and splashed the cash and somehow, Powell has managed to coach out of the best players motivation and skill. His post match waffle does nothing to make me feel he is fit for the role as London Broncos Head Coach - he is not. But I dont know what the options/altrnatives are, but I do know if this continues we are going out of business.
On the bright side, Salford were excellent, well drilled and really entertaining and I wish them well. Their stadium is everything we should aspire too (apart form the pre match ticketing arrangements) and their fans passionate and vocal.
There were times on the journey up, sitting stationary in miles of traffic, when we could easily have turned around and given up on the team, but we made the effort and kept the faith and got there. If only some of the players could take a leaf out of their loyal fans books.

| I could not face posting last night when I arrived home! it was bad enough seeing twitter & facebook on the iPhone, what a total disaster, just clueless, it is the first time since I started watching the game of rugby league as a 7 year old that I was so tempted to leave early, yes using the old excuse beat the traffic.
Salford had some good play from individuals & I respect them enjoying their moment of glory but tale of how they will smash Catalan next week away is a little getting carried away beating a bad team.
Only little comfort was we were able to score, which I worried would be impossible to do at half time.

Powell may not be up to it, but Gower in particular should be stepping up and making things happen. An Aussie international, a match for any halfback in his pomp, he should still be capable of creating gaps and opportunities. Too old? Past it? Compare with Lee Briers at Wire who never had Gower's credentials but seems to improve with age and experience. Witt also looked lively at Crusaders, so has to share the blame. No ha;fback creativity = entire games spent in defence = many defeats to come.

Firstly, to you and all other Broncos fans fair play for making the trip last night.
According to "Coach" Powell, Ellis wanted to return north. And like you and a few others dare I say, I thought we'd shot ourselves in the foot when he signed for Wakey Wakey. Always thought he got us on the front foot when on the field and always got us going forward. I see the U20's went down to a not to disimilar score to Salford.
I see from 22:24 last night, the Broncos website, were spinning that "Coach" Powell was a "disapointed man" and has called on the squad to "stop the rot and fast".

| Players around Gower just aren't good enough, we don't have an effective game plan and the players aren't playing as 1 unit. He isn't a miracle worker. On the 3 occasions I have seen him this season, it is clear he is the best player we have, a class act, just with no support. Hopefully someone can keep him interested, a partnership with a new, capable coach perhaps.

| If Powell is still in charge at the next home game I think we should organise a protest!
Any ideas?

Black Backgrounds/Zoot.gif Freedom for supporters of the government, only for members of one party - however numerous they may be - is no freedom at all. freedom is always and exclusively for one who thinks differently.

| Seem to remember reading that Powell was appointed against the advice of the RFL. As far as a replacement's concerned, the rumour is that Brian Noble's not interested in a job involving a house move and I can't see John Kear swapping a nice, relatively low profile job at Batley with trying to sort out the mess that's us at the moment.

| Just a thought but anyone thought that maybe the big senior players and the respective personalities are now a big part of the problem.
They wouldn't be the first players at the end of there career to get the coach the sack, and one step into the breach, How many times in sport have coaches/managers bought players to a club and ended up in affect adding to the problems and appointing there own successor.
RP was in a very awkward situation in this close season, in having to bring in players with a lot of experience and mould a new team. In effect he was also bringing people he really knew nothing about, and most importantly he was just hoping these players would get on, gel and really work along his ideas and game plan.
The new players have clearly not progressed the coach or clubs position, merely exposed him for what he was a rookie coach trying to make his way in the game in arguably the worst position in superleague.
I do feel sad for the bloke, ive said it before appears to be a decent bloke who got the job too early, at a really difficult time in the clubs history, a good coach on paper, but as shown, lacks Superleague experience and his own experienced coaching team. My guess the new players have now sussed this, the respect for the coach is not there.
Time to move on and a lot to learn for the club both on and off the field, A great deal of thought is needed, its massive appointment, it needs to be credible and workable this time.
John Kear seemed very happy two weeks ago at Batley, welcomed every Skolars player into the clubhouse before the game, after the game drove down to Sky Super league review on Sunday night at Isleworth, maybe thats the link.

| Agree with DL about Gower, so many doubted he would be able to rise to the challenge but I feel he has and is leading by example but he can't do it all on his own!
Over bringing in a new coach or Director of Rugby to work with Rob, Doubt Noble would relocate to London, not sure if three days a week would work? Kear has got it easy but he may go for the challenge! he is never one to hide away for too long & have an easy life. Whatever option it needs to be done sooner than later!!!
