| Quote: Roy Haggerty "Sorry to butt in on a private argument, but it's not the coach. London's problems didn't start with McDermott, and neither Powell nor Rea are to blame for the current situation. The buck here stops at the top. If you drew a graph of London's prospects, the line would turn downwards as soon as Lenagan left the club. In the ensuing years, too many decisions have been messed up, too many opportunities not taken, and an almost total absence of leadership giving the club direction and purpose.
Fans tend to overstate the importance of coaches. Wayne Bennett would have a similar win record to McDermott/Powell/Rea at London in the last five years. So fans calling for Rea's head are missing the point, in my view. The players are reacting to an off-field lack of direction and purpose. It's not the coach who can't secure a ground or a sponsor. It's not the coach who's responsible for the full squad believing their careers are under threat due to financial problems. It's not the coach who's responsible for the failure to retain or attract fans.
Hughes has plugged a lot of cash in, but he is ultimately responsible for the Broncos' failure off the field, and it's the failure off the field which has informed the failure on it, rather than the other way around, in my opinion.'"
A rare decent post amongst the near constant drivel posted on here over the last 24 hours. Well done, you are 100% spot on.

Spot on.
The RFL were to narrow minded to let IL keep his stake in London IIRC. He probably wouldn't have ploughed in as much money as he would have, had he not purchased Wigan, but he would not have accepted failure of the type that has become acceptable at the club.
A business needs to have a clear and documented strategic plan for it to grow, with KPI's that are realistic, with rewards and CONSEQUENCES for achievement and failures. The London Broncos have no plan that anyone can see, have continued to employ failing staff members and as such, will drift along until they fold.
I can't think of any other business where the CEO remains employed after they have presided over a massive drop in customers, revenue and interest of the scale witnessed at the stoop in the last 30 months. Furthermore, 16 wins out of 71 SL games is another example of the Chairman's influence over presiding's at the club.....he refuses to accept he has made monumental blunders in hiring Gus and Making Powell head coach, before compounding that error by getting Rea back. These decisions look like they are going to be the end of the club....Hughes needs to accept that whilst he owns the club, it doesn't mean he knows how to run it.
In his dealings with the RFL, he has alienated clubs that were once allies and has isolated us to the extent that the majority of long term fans are now starting to drift away.
It could of all been oh so different if IL had been allowed to keep his stake in the club.......he doesn't do failure!

| Ian Lenagan is the greatest club owner in the history of rugby league. I cannot go into the details of the man's professionalism, wisdom, charity, and connectivity and responsiveness to his club's fans. But I have seen it with my own eyes at both London and Wigan. It is obvious to anyone familiar with his performances at London and Wigan that he would not have allowed Gus McKay, baby Powell, or Tony Rea to have had anything to do with running or coaching a club that he owned.
Had Ian Lenagan retained majority ownership of London Broncos, the club, in Marlon Brando's immortal words, "could have been a contender."

Fuck him......he can off and take Clubb and the waste of Skin CEO with him!
I'd sack the majority of them and let the 19's run out for the rest of the season with Soward helping out with the coaching......if this is his attempt at getting the guys angry and wound up for Leeds, then he needed to do it in private...statements like the wannabee sun have grabbed hold of are further proof that Hughes is nearing the end of his tether.

Can you elaborate on the clubs who were once allies to LB please. I can only think on Hetherington at Leeds and now that seems in doubt.

Heatherington is in hands with the big fat controller Woods! how Nigel ever got the job is beyond me, when you look at his Halifax track record.
To see such comments made by a coach of our club, saddens me, he must have known The Current Bun would make most of his one stupid line!
Gills Chairman Scally again claiming, he is going cool on the deal! Thank goodness!

I take any quote from TR with a pinch of salt.

| Then when you read the rest of what is a very short article you realise it is nothing but the normal crap from TR, keeping focus, wheels turning etc etc.....I know he has been lumbered with players signed by others in some respects, but can anybody point to a single area of our game (or player) that you think has improved as a direct result of TR`s coaching expertise. He is just an old mate of DH and that is why he was signed as coach, it was the easy choice, nothing more than that. The club is at deaths door, no real financial clout, awful management, no future, no hope of signing any good players and already written off by the RFL and media.....and now the plonkers start talking about a `shake-up`. Stop insulting the fans intelligence, draw a line under the club and we can all find better ways to spend our weekends and spend our money.

| We're way past being in need of a shake up - more like we need a root and branch overhaul. Anything you can think of (chairman, coach, players etc...) pretty much needs to be changed and changed for the better! If not, as under the sticks says better to call it a day - and have one last celebratory booze up / wake at the last home game
